I agree with others here - $75k is NOT a car most people can afford. Until these "entry level" EVs are priced between $35k and $50k, you won't find a lot of people buying them.....yet. They are still a bit of a novelty here in Australia and not practical enough for the majority, BUT we are slowly progressing.

@@johnlambert1744 most people dont do that with dualcab utes, they are (bizarrely) a fashion statement. Most are used on school runs and trips to the supermarket where an ordinary car would be head and shoulders better than a dualcab ute

It's too bad all that ugly silver trim (both inside and out) couldn't be replaced with something that looks like brushed black stainless steel... or at least in black. Silver just looks cheap when it's plastic.

Absolutely great point at the start. Sick of these one week previewers looking at the top priced model of an EV only and not leading with range and affordability first. I don't care about 0 to 100km! I care about can we afford this to stick it to oil barons in the middle of a cost of living crisis. I loved riding in an ioniq 5 this year, if I were to get any model away from a Model Y I'd go Hyundai ioniq 5 or ev6 if they were cheaper.

Entry level tesla's are under 60k... byd and mg entry will be under 40k although not as nice... 75k is no longer entry lvl for EV 2023...

Really do not see the cost being correct, these are basically a very simple device controlled by a very low powered computer and a couple of iPads. There is no drive shaft or gearbox etc. Just a simple structure with very similar suspension to a comparable ice vehicle and the motors are not exactly breaking the bank to make. Look at Tesla they dropped their price a massive amount and still make lots from each sale. A starting price for these things should be at least 20% less especially since we are subsidizing them with Government (read our money).

I would wait a few years before buying one to let the dealer network come up to speed on maintaining them. I’ve had my two month old ioniq in at a dealer for a warranty issue for almost a month now with still no sign of getting it back anytime soon. I expressed concern to Hyundai head office before dropping it off about the dealers ability to fix it and they told me that they were a blue star highly trained EV dealer. Shame because the car seemed pretty good but if it’s a month plus whenever something goes wrong why would you buy it?

Couldn’t agree more that performance shouldn’t be the most important aspect of an EV. Range, comfort and driveability are far more important. Plus this thing will still outperform many ICE cars anyway so it’s got more than enough performance. Now if we can just get the price down . . . .

Most important in my view is how fast it can charge then range. If I had one I wouldn't want to spend a long time charging often. How quick is lower on the list.

I completely agree with all other comments. This should not be considered a base model with its staggering high price for a Mazda 3 sized hatchback. Only Hyundai should dare to use that term. Others should just call it overpriced.

I test drove today and agree it is an excellent car and very comfortable and easy drive. My only wish is that the seats are not white. I really need dark seats but do not want a dark bodied car, no black, white or dark grey.

I LOVE the outside styling but I would buy the EV6 GT over it simply because the most powerful Ioniq 5 vs the most powerful EV6 is just no where near as powerful. Also, Ok, there are a good few storage spaces in the cabin, but there's not enough covered storage as far as I am concerned. Just one tiny center bit. Everything is exposed . Tesla do that way better, sorry.
