I live in the Tampa Bay Area of FL, a senior citizen (73 y/o) and a 6’ and a fairly large man coming from a 2020 Toyota Camry, I got my 2023 Kona on May 12th. I have put about 900 miles on the vehicle so far with no complaints. It is somewhat smaller then the Camry which has taken some getting used to. I purchased the SEL model and like all the extra “goodies” that come standard with the SEL (ie, lane assist, blind spot collision avoidance assist, etc, etc). I opted for the front wheel drive (non AWD) model, as I didn’t feel the AWD was needed here in the Sunshine State. The one feature I truly do not care for is the Idle Stop & Go (ISG)! I don’t use it and it is annoying that you have to manually turn it off every time you start the car! Other then that, I find the car fun to drive and I like the sporty looks of the vehicle also. I don’t think it can match the MPG of the Camry but we will see. Again, I am happy so far with my purchase and will be taking it on a few trips in the near future.

Looks like in a few months, I'll be tracking down a Pre-owned N-Line with AWD. My current ride does 0-60mph. in 6.5 seconds. It's not about racing. That performance helps in merging onto highway traffic, and accelerating away from a possible collision. Can't sacrifice that. 6.6, I can live with that.

After being a long-term Honda owner I purchased the SEL in two-tone Metallic Red & /Blk with lt. grey seats...didn't need the Turbo and dual-clutch on the upgraded Kona models. Although the Ultimate pkg. wasn't available during the time of my purchase (same time this video was shot) it's well worth it for the extra. At a similar price-point Hyundai included much more features for 2023. I upgraded the original wheels with 18" Bridgestones and polished chromes.

i just traded in my 2017 Kia Soul for this 2023 Hyundai Kona and I love this car. My Kia was stolen a few months ago (thank you kia boys!) but got it back with the ignition busted. I was lucky that the thief only used a screwdriver to steal my car so it was able to drive with the screwdriver used to steal my car. There was no one that could fix my Kia because of parts shortage so I baught this car. This car is amazing!!!! and its my first Brand new car I ever baught for a really good deal. im just paying only $133 more per month than my kia so this was a good deal in the long run.

I love my Hyundai Kona. I will not get any other car. I like the way it drives. I liked the way it handles. I like the all-wheel drive. And when you're living in an area that has black ice. Sometimes, you need the winter mode or AWD. It may not have a ton of room, but if I'm taken my great nieces and nephews. Or you know, just anybody for a ride, the backseat has enough room for them. It's beneficial for a subcompact car like this to have all the featuresthat you need. Especially in winter conditions. I give it a 4 and a 1/2 star rating at a 5.

Great review, but I disagree with the "need" for AWD. I may in the minority opinion here (and I do live in the very snowy northern state of MN). I dont feel I much ever have use for AWD since the roads are always plowed. I think that FWD is very adequate in light snow, gets better gas mileage, and is $1500 (repairs are cheaper too). Last, I feel that in the rare moments of heavier snow, driving slower will be superior to counting on AWD, and youll probably be in traffic that is traveling very slow anyway, due to lower visibility. Just my 2 cents from driving in snowy winters.
@carolinej36612 жыл бұрын
I agree. Even in PA, 99+% of the time you'd never need AWD, and it reduces your gas mileage.. I would do without it.

As a Canadian, the AWD is a must 😂 but I see your points!

@@MakaylaDawn its no more a must than Mcdonalds burgers are a must for survival of the species. More like a waste of money and very seldomly better than nothing at all.

@@srobeck77 considering I’m getting more snowfall than both MN and PA combined in a year, I think it’s worth it for me - plus I’m sure our road maintenance and snow removal is much worse than your guys’. To say AWD is a must is not accurate for everyone - but for someone who lives in a climate like mine, it would be stupid to not take it for only $1500 more.
@srobeck772 жыл бұрын
@@MakaylaDawn considering they invented snowplows and road salt like a long time ago, its still no. And a waste of money and a wonder how anyone ever survived driving before awd. Wait nvm, they did. Yup waste of money. And probably more people get into accidents with AWD than not by overestimating its significance. Thinking that they "needed it" and can drive even faster.

I love the detail in your reviews, though this one seems to need a couple of corrections: * Consumer reports slams the Kona, giving it their next to lowest (less than average) reliability rating, plus a total points of 59 out of 100 (really low) and it falls 7 of 10 in their text category. It's greatest strength in their review: handling! * It's important to note, on the slow acceleration that you're testing the AWD, always slower in these small cars. From what I can tell, it is about an 18% hit on acceleration! * And it's worthy to note that Kia offers the same amazing warranty, which one would expect from sibling brands... Thanks for you efficient, get down to business reviews.

I have a 2022 Kona Limited FWD. I love that it's loaded, but miss the HUD that they took away when they discontinued the Ultimate model (my 2nd Kona, had the 2019 Limited too). Looks like the new 2024 Kona will be a hot seller and can't wait to see how they price it, since they apparently lowered the 2023 prices from 2022 (my Limited was about $30K).

Tell the truth, you are recommended to not park these vehicles indoors because of the fire risk, do not drive in stop and go traffic with the double clutch transmission as it will overheat and when you complain to the dealer they say you should have read the owners manual before purchasing.
