I used to own the old Kona 1.6T DCT. I'm probably the only person in Australia that is sad to see the DCT go. The only reason I sold my Kona was because my kids always complained about the lack of room in the back seats. Glad to see the new Kona has grown and also glad to see that Hyundai has kept the physical buttons and knobs with minimal piano black.

Why does the reviewer say that the 7-DCT was really bad?
@Coastmac2001 Жыл бұрын
Nothing like being unique & hyundai have done that in spades. Pass on the 2ltr , the extra for the 1.6 T-Gdi is worth the extra . The infotainment is upgraded due to Hyundai Blue Link being included. Overall its good. Its really good. Styling might just need a little taming

Hello gentlemen, you guys are quite entertaining. I thought you were nut bags to start. Then after watching the entire vid you presented the the information really well. I subscribed and as I’m currently looking for a small suv as a city car I’ll check out the Kona. Cheers

With the eventual discontinuation of the i30 hatch,the new Kona will slot in to replace it. Will be interesting to see how the hybrid goes. Not a fan of the N-Line spoiler at the top.Looks way too gimmicky. And very impressed with the base 2 litre with iCVT.

Agree the 2L is a very good basic car. Some people just need that, nothing extra.

Love it! and still enjoying your reviews Matt (long time follower) I was going to buy a CX-30, but this has caught my eye. Love that they have ditched the 7 speed dual clutch in city sized cars. They have no place in such models. 8 speed auto 1.6 turbo is very pleasing for a city car. Can't wait to test drive one.

I disagree that the old Kona was to small , to me it was the perfect size. By upsizing the Kona has Hyundi lost the small suv between the Venue and Tucson

Yeah, it competes directly with the Tuscon now, which is an odd move for Hyundai.

The plastic new spoiler on the N line is in 2 pieces, bolted onto the existing spoiler. Europe N line does not have it, as it is ridiculous. A pointless bolt on, 2 spoilers. Remove it if you get the N line, you will look embarrassing otherwise. Hyundai engineers put it on for a joke to see if anyone bought it. 2 spoilers, baw haw

Not completely the same powertrains. 1.6T before 175 /195 with 7spd DCT. New 1.6t 195/195 with 8spd traditional transmission. 2.0 4banger before was 6spd traditional now it's the CVT. Most 0-100 (60) are with just the driver. Usually any quoted times are not with extra passengers for any vehicle honestly. You're adding an extra 150-200lbs to the test

I can tell you what they were probably thinking. They needed a option in the 4300mm suv segment and they werent going to bring the 3rd world Creta to offend Austrailian senses(even though that car is just as plush and just as practically useless and expensive as this Kona). So they though they could just put more R&D in the Kona platform, electrify it(because Aussies are so hot and bothered for that these days) and charge the requisite bomb for it(because they beleive most Aussies have cash aplenty and youre trying to find the few skinflints around that arent driving GLC's and Q5's). All in all, if youre a value concious buyer, this is not an option, you dont get much for your money with this.
@thurules Жыл бұрын
Why do you say Creta is 3rd world and practically useless?
@mindfreeze0838 Жыл бұрын
@@thurules because the Creta is not in the developed markets only the developing ones and the new Creta has barely the same amount of boot space as a Suzuki Vitara(a much smaller car) when you actually put a tape measure to it.

@asingularbowlofsoup8816 Жыл бұрын
@@mindfreeze0838no you pay for the better quality. A Kia Sportage is objectively a better quality interior than a Haval H6. Not only this but you are paying for the knowledge that this car more than likely will be problem free, and parts will not be an issue. You don’t get that with MG, GWM/Haval, Mahindra (sort of), Chery etc. Crazy how fast Australia forgets these cars 10 years ago , mainly Chery and Great Wall

Kona definitely beats the Corolla Cross petrol. But hardly anyone buys the petrol version of Toyotas these days. Hyundai's hybrids are disappointing. They're too complicated (which means less reliable) and thirsty compared to a Toyota hybrid, so not really worth it.
