Previous Hyundai Elantra (2nd hand) and current Tucson owner (2019) here. Never had any issues with Hyundai. Reliability is at par with any Japanese brands. And true enough, Tucson is a really reliable car. Have brought mine to frequent long distance drives and kahit city driving sobrang tipid nya (Gas version). And malakasan kahit ang dami ko laging dala dahil sa out of town and I live sa bundok and often experience rough unpaved roads and never doubted its capability. And totoo, it handles really well, smooth, planted, little body roll even at high speeds, quiet. Very spacious 2nd row seats and the cargo is quite big (people have come up to me thinking na akala nila may 3rd row ang Tucson dahil sa laki ng cargo area). And with the new variants, the specs are even better than mine..

I have a Tucson (gas automatic ) as well. Overall I am happy with it but Lately, delay in shifting when trying to accelerate from 40kmh when passing another vehicle. Do you have the same issue?

@@phmagpantay1066 I do sometimes, really doesn't bother me. They say it's a downside of CVT (IVT for Hyundai) transmission. If the issue is getting worse, I advise that you have it checked. The chainbelt or CVT transmission fluid perhaps (am no expert) :)

Just bought Tucson Highlander turbo diesel over Forester iS. I like the Bluelink connectivity. di ko na kelangan keyless remote to start the engine,heat up the car and I can also control the car out of a narrow parking space. Drive assisr e.g. smart radar cruise cobtrol is comparsble to Subarus Eyesight tech. Love the car. For keeps for another 5 years.

Turbo diesel over naturally aspirated gas by far for almost 2x torque and power of the gas variant.

@@markkevinapalisok3680 we dont have Nissan Terra here in Australia. So I can only compare based on the figure you provided. In terms of power they are almost at par with slight advantage on Nissan Terra ( 187hp vs 186 - Tucson). However, you need to consider ogher factors as well like base wt of the car and torque at specified rpm. Assuming Terra is a proper 4WD SUV vs AWD on demand for the Tucson then I will go for the Terra when off-roading or on hard stiff trails. But for everyday urban use and light offroading they should be on par. Iuse my Tucson when driving over hills with my ebike ( as I do downhill mtb). But when towing my boat and outback driving I use my Prado Kakadu. Terra I would assume is in between Tucson AWD and Prado if that makes sense.

@@markkevinapalisok3680 they are both diesel although turbo charged so the acceleration is no where to compare with turbo charged sedan. Then compare the torque, base wt and the type of transmission. Assuming they are at par enginewise, Nissan Terra is a dual clutch DCT? vs Tucson 8speed auto then Ill go for Terra. But bear in mind DCT is so unreliable over time so be prepared for the cost of maintenance if you want to keep the Terra over period of >10yrs.

Rest easy as Tucson here is reliable, sa US lang hindi kasi gamit nila yung old Theta engine which has recalls and believe it or not, sa US walang immobilizer. This Hyundai has the reliable 2.0 gas engine and their popular crdi engine. I own a 2016 tucson as well as a 2014 fortuner and 2018 altis. magkakasing reliable sila don't worry,

As much as I want to buy the tucson diesel or the santa fe, im holding back due to the class action lawsuit in the USA, CANADA, AUSTRALIA for the engine fire issue that until now is still unresolved and how hyundai-kia manage the issue (tsk tsk). Tho the one involved in those countries are the theta II gas engine.
