Just bought a 2023 Tucson SEL with the convenience package with ~17,000 miles. The option level is perfect. Also, the leatherette seats look and feel great! We do have the AWD option which is a big plus since we leave in the suburbs of Chicago. Great video. Even though I wish I'd seen it before purchasing this car, it confirms a lot of which I knew. We got a great little SUV loaded up, and for a really good price. Thanks for posting this.

I just purchased a black Limited. The daytime running lights are striking with the all black. I absolutely LOVE it. I love all the safety features. It is so comfortable, smooth, and quiet. The ventillated/heated seats are a wonderful thing. The all wheel drive and "snow mode" will come in handy for the Rochester NY snowstorms. Love the panoramic sun roof. I am very very happy with my vehicle.

Congrats! I am glad to hear you are loving the car so far. You're right that AWD will help in the winter just remember AWD doesn't help you brake any better. 😉

The black does look REALLY good with the all black grill and the gloss black features of the limited. And of course the DRLs to compliment all of that. Very nice combo for sure. For someone considering the black, it’s probably most imperative to get the limited as the cheaper exterior materials of the SEL will stick out much more and take away from the entire look significantly. They shouldn’t even sell the black in trims that aren’t the limited.

Recently test drove SEL and sat in/ checked out features of Limited. Both are really nice vehicles. I’m really torn by whether or not the added features of the Limited justify the cost difference. I know this is really personal/financial preference, but would love to hear from people who either are satisfied with the trim they chose (and why), or if they got one or the other and have regrets (and why). Was happy to have this video highlight many of the comparisons!

Hey! So I just bought the SEL Convenience, and I was actually making a bit of an opposite decision- I was trying to decide if I should stick with the $2k lower SEL or splurge on the convenience- The SEL does not have the sunroof, the digital dashboard, but essentially everything else was the same. I'm not someone who cares about a sunroof because when open it gets super loud and its weather dependent anyhow- but I went for the Convenience because I liked the color of the car more (The only color SEL they had was white, which I am not a fan of) But I absolutely love it, and honestly, I'm really happy with my decision and after watching this video I have absolutely no jealousy or feeling like I'm missing out by not having the limited. I'll tell you why: -The matte black vs polished black accents on the outside of the door/roof rail!? I would have never even noticed this. They look identical, I mean who cares honestly. - Heated seats are MUCH more desirable than ventilated seats IMO, living in New England. In the summer, the car will get cool with the AC quickly. SELC comes with heated seats. -I much, much prefer having a physical shifter. I like to rest my hand on it when driving. -SELC has wireless android auto. Much more convenient than needing to plug in. -These days, car navigation systems are useless if you have a smartphone. Google or Apple Maps will always be more accurate. -The only thing on the Limited I would honestly like to have on my SELC is the turn signal cameras. But the side mirrors in the SELC have the lane shift warning anyway. So for $10k more? Absolutely not The only reason I can think someone would go for the Limited for that much money more with so much fewer and even in some cases worse upgrades (looking at you plug-in Android Auto/Carplay because of Navigation) is for a status symbol. That is just my opinion. I wanted an AWD SUV with roof rails and a tow hitch so I can go skiing, kayaking, mountain biking with ease. I would have gotten the base model if there was any stock. Lol.

I chose the Limited based on the full glass sunroof, heated /cooled seats, 10.25 inch display vs the sel. If those things are not important to you then the sel is for you. Also leather is tougher longer lasting vs the vinyl seats. I'm a detailer and I see lots on vinyl seats that tear vs almost no leather tears.

I got the SEL Convenience Pkg and I love it. I didn't want to pay the Limited price. The Convenience is more than enough for most people plus I love the H-tex seats and the matte black finish on the outside isn't going to show up finger prints like the gloss black.

I have a 2023 SEL AWD with the convenience package, LOVE the leatherette VS cloth as lots of people say it's rough on the skin. The $2250.00 is well worth that package, mine has the Michelin's which ride like a cloud, handle amazing and the 19 inch wheels look awesome. I live in NC but have a house in WV and last weekend it was 30 degrees there, heated seats work fast and great feature to have. Coming back to NC with 1000 miles on it i got 29.7 so Hyundai's mileage claims are accurate. It climbs Sandstone mountain with cruise on at 70 like nothing, just downshifts a few gears and revs stay around 3000-3500 while hitting those 7-8% inclines, not fast but smooth and accelerates onto the highway fine and cruises 70 at only 2000 rpm. I knew what and what not to expect from a 190 hp vehicle, the 8 speed does a fine job.

Great to hear! I agree with you that the SEL Convenience is a solid choice for value. I really do like the Leatherette too as its every bit as soft as the leather if not a tad more so.

Excellent comparison video! I just purchased a SEL Convenience in Shimmering Silver. The Limited was pricey and to tell you the truth most people don't need all those options and like you said I love the H-tex seating. I came from a Kona so this was a huge upgrade. The only thing I don't like are the Kumho Crugen HP71 tires. They are very noisy and the dealer is trying to get Hyundai to swap them out for something else. I'm loving the gas mileage. I'm averaging around 27 to 28 mpg and it's not even broken in yet. Unless you need all the gadgets the SEL Convenience is the perfect trim level.

Thanks Mike! I assume yours is FWD? I say this because it seems like the Michelins come on AWD and the Kumho come on FWD. Tires make a huge difference so if you are unhappy I would try to get them swapped out for something higher quality. Thanks for sharing your experience so far!

@@CarsMadeSimple yes I have the FWD. I’m in Georgia so didn’t really need AWD. The service manager is meeting with the Hyundai district rep this afternoon to discuss my tire issue and will have an answer for me tomorrow. He said he’s had a lot of Tucson’s with the Kumho tires with noise complaints. He said everyone is thinking it’s a wheel bearing which is what I was thinking. Hopefully they’ll approve something else for me.

Excellent job presenting these differences. I am currently considering both of these models and that really cleared up a few things I wasn’t clear about. Especially some of the smaller aesthetic details. Those small details makes a big difference in the appearance, and some of the tech should be standard on both vehicles. It’s like they are forcing people to get the Limited, however the panoramic roof I could definitely do without. And the real leather seats are a useless “upgrade” as leatherette is so much better.

@@deniselayton5368 I don’t know anything about a 2023 vs 2024 limited except I think the Tucson is already getting a refresh for 2024? Either way, you need to get out of that Jeep which is notorious for horrendous quality. And no offense, but nobody is looking at Jeep SUVs on the road and thinking they are nice at all. Sounds like you would be in a really good position to have Hyundai buy out your lease and use the equity toward a new Tucson.

I just turned in my 2020 ultimate Tucson for the 2023 SELC and I'm happy with it. Two things I miss are the panoramic sunroof and the surround view, which is such a nice feature! But I couldn't justify the cost difference. One thing I noticed is neither trim has a sunglass holder that I had in my 2020 car. It's a minor issue but I def used it. The light grey leatherette is attractive and comfortable.

Thanks for the comment! It does seem that Hyundai has moved away from the sunglasses holder in just about every model. I am not sure the reason for this as it is very handy in my vehicle. Actually the Hybrid's are different. So the regular Blue Hybrid is based upon the SEL but adds dual zone auto climate control. The SEL Convenience Hybrid is based upon the SEL Convenience but adds the 10.25" infotainment, panoramic sunroof, expanded ambient lighting. The Limited Hybrid will be the same as the gas version for the most part. The Plug-In versions will be the same as the Hybrid's. So the SEL Plug-In will be based on the Blue Hybrid but gets the 19" wheels and the Limited is the Limited. All Hybrid's and PHEV's have the shift by wire and tire mobility kit.

@CarsMadeSimple
@CarsMadeSimple Жыл бұрын
I have not been able to drive the Tucson or Santa Fe Hybrid with the 1.6T/Electric Motor. I would really like to so I can get a feel for the power. The standard 2.5 in these vehicles isn't overly powerful so I believe this is one reason people opt for the hybrid in addition to the fuel economy. If you do more in town, slow to moderate speed, driving that is where the hybrid really shines. If you do more interstate driving, the MPG difference starts to shrink.

Hyundai went super-cheap penny pinching on 2023... I have a 2018 Tucson Value Edition (far from top-of-the-line)... and have HomeLink on the Rearview Mirror... the 2022 SEL Convenience had Homelink on the Rearview Mirror... almost any car that is not the cheapest in the world has Homelink on the Rearview Mirror... Hyundai in 2023? If you want that Homelink, you need to buy our most expensive Trim or no Homelink for you. WTH Hyundai, are you really that cheap? The exact same car from 2022 has Homelink, but you took it out in 2023 to pinch a penny?

I have been told this may be in part due to chip shortages however you should be able to buy it as an accessory after the fact for most (if not all) Hyundai's. This should be a very simple plug and play kit too given the mirror is already auto dimming.

@@CarsMadeSimple Thanks for the info... like I said, I don't blame dealerships, not their fault... but man, that took me by surprise. I've been interested in the 2022+ redesign of the Tucson for awhile now... I actually "ordered" a 2022 Hybrid SEL Convenience back in July... after months of "sorry", it got switched over to a 2023 Hybrid SEL Convenience, and it's finally coming in December! 5 months on a waiting list! I knew every inch of the 2022 SEL Hybrid with Convenience, but when I started looking over the 2023, there's actually some significant changes, and that's when I noticed the Homelink that was on the same 2022 version vanished on the 2023 version!

How did you find A Tucson Limited with a spare tire or do the Hybrids like I bought not have room for one and the non hybrids have spares?

@@worshaaj like you theorized, it's a Gas vs Hybrid thing. There's so many differences between the gas and Hybrid Tucsons it's amazing, almost completely different features. All gas Tucsons come with a spare tire, all Hybrids don't (unless I missed something). I'm not 100% sure why that is, but it's a thing. There's just a ton of features differences between the gas and Hybrid versions of the Tucson.

@@wolfshanze5980 it’s a tough time to buy cars as we don’t really know if the radical agendas against fossil fuels (far and away our best option) will stick. All this reliance on electricity will fail and already has.
