Grand Wagoneer began in the 60s and ended in the 90s. In those times, it was an affordable, regular SUV. It was few years ago, Jeep decided it to be a Luxury SUV. I'm not paying 100k+ for it, though.

@Psythik Жыл бұрын
SUVs are a stupid waste of money anyway. For a $123K, you could own *both* a sports car for the weekends *AND* a brand new fuel-efficient minivan for hauling the kids (with cash leftover to spare). Only idiots buy SUVs. Save your money and get two cars.
@TassieLorenzo Жыл бұрын
@@Psythik We car enthusiasts know that minivans are just plain better, but for the general public minivan = uncool and SUV = cool, unfortunately. 🙄 The Mums and Dads don't want to give the impression of "giving up on life" as is implied by a minivan (or station wagon with wood panelling down the size). When you have CAFE rules that say SUVs are allowed to have 25% higher MPG because they are "light trucks" (yeah, right), you can see why manufacturers are incentivised to sell SUVs over minivans and station wagons.

If it had a Maserati badge it would be OK? 🤔I don't get why people are hung up on brand, if it's the same parts found underneath the vehicle. Why can't a Jeep-badged vehicle compete head-to-head with a similar Cadillac-badged or Lincoln-badged full-size SUV?
@YourMajesticKyng Жыл бұрын
@@TassieLorenzo Maserati, Cadillac, and Lincoln are premium vehicles. Those brands were established, and built upon being premium brands. Jeep is not a premium brand. Most people do not think premium, expensive, or luxury when they think Jeep. Cadillac, Lincoln, and Maserati can get away with asking 100K because they have never been cheap.
@TassieLorenzo Жыл бұрын
@@YourMajesticKyng Fair enough. Given Chrysler discontinued Imperial, and this vehicle is not appropriate to be a Maserati, did they have a choice of brand names? Should Chrysler have brought back the Imperial name for the top-of-the-range Jeep products? The top-of-the-range Toyota product is the Toyota Century and IMO it doesn't matter that it has the same brand name as a Yaris. Nor do I think it matters that the VW Phaeton has the same brand name a Jetta. I think it's curious that people seem to care more about a brand name then the attributes of the vehicle!

@TassieLorenzo Жыл бұрын
You pay for (or pay the *lease* for) the gadgets (and markup) on a luxury car these days. Long-term ownership generally does not concern the manufacturer. Once it's about 7 years old, it is meant to be junked by the second owner, and the first owner would have already gone back to upgrade to a new one at about 3-4 years.

Set aside the reliability for a moment... This vehicle has a lot of nice features. It's distinctive, which is the kindest word I could use, but I realize I don't speak for everyone's tastes. This gives another option to the ubiquitous Escalade or Navigator, and who doesn't like choices? Perhaps the buyer of these $120K+ vehicles have multiple vehicles in their driveway, so reliability is only a problem if they get stranded by whatever issue it's having. I dunno... I'm just imagining how wealthy people handle notoriously unreliable expensive vehicles, such as Range Rovers.
