An even better rooftop config is to buy a Bestop SunRider. It replaces the 2 front Freedom Panels and gives you a quick and easy way to lift the top while seated in the drivers seat.

You have some good advice and commentary. You're maybe the first person to review the 4XE to get most of the facts right on the EV/ICE side of things. Great advice on who the 4XE serves best. I can't speak to this top, cuz I got the painted hard top. But from what I get from this review, IMO, the top you're reviewing is the worst of both worlds. It practically removes your ability to go completely convertible, while at the same time doesn't protect you from sound and the cold like a hard top. And all for the bargain basement price of what you'd pay to buy both a hard top and a soft top. For some it may be perfect, but not for me. Even with the hard top, it's louder than most SUV's(especially with the Rubicon, which is what I have), but I can carry a normal volume conversation with passengers in the hard top without issues. It does a pretty good job of keeping temps within a couple degrees. But if those things are very important to you, even a base Kia SUV will probably drive quieter and more comfortably than a Wrangler. It's the nature of the beast. In terms of handling, it's the same story. The Rubicon in particular is not a curve carving road car. But you won't be pulled over for suspected DUI because you crossed the lines a bunch of times. You just have to get off your phone and pay attention, like you always should. On the 4XE aspect, your mileage will literally vary. I've gone months without visiting a gas station, and my electric costs about $1.70 per "fillup". If you have a long commute and/or the electric where you park at home is mediocre or nonexistant, this is definitely not the Jeep for you. Without that, you have a Jeep with a pretty cool "electric supercharger" that gets you about the same gas mileage overall as a normal 2.0l Wrangler. You HAVE to plug it in to save money.

I have a 2009 Jeep Wrangler X Unlimited with a hard top. I’m looking to get a new Jeep. What’s the reason that the Rubicon is louder? I was looking into a Rubicon because I spent about $13,000 fixing up my current X.

My biggest issue with Jeeps is that they offer way too many engine configurations. I think 3 engine max should be it. makes it easier to know what to work on when traveling, or if something goes wrong (which it will, since jeeps for some reason always have something going on)
@jowens4883 Жыл бұрын
I don't understand the issue with the steering. I hear this allot. I have my first Wrangler with 31.5 tires. I have no issue with the steering. It is a bit noisy. But look at what your getting. A vehicle is ready for sun, 1'-0" of snow, over a foot of water. I have hit large puddles on the hyw at 40 and the steering does not flinch. This is size vehicle work in tight parking places like NYC. Will be looking at a 2nd one after this lease is up.

Talking so much about how loud it is - kind of funny. Really not that loud and way less loud than old Jeep’s by a lot. I took a test drive and first thought was how smooth and quiet it was compared to old Jeeps. Had to buy one and did. It’s a Jeep first- and then a hybrid. And drive about 1000 miles on a tank of gas with regularly plugging in.

So I do have an issue with your review. Most reviews go on about how loud it is inside while driving. Yes it is a little louder than a pick up or a SUV. But it's not that much louder. I have had 5. 2 YJ's a TJ. a JK and now a JL Rubi that I drive every day and travel with. I have normal conversations. We don't have yell. So please stop doing that. Yes it's a little louder.

I only care about the extra HP and TQ the electric motor lends to the power train. How long does the battery last in hybrid mode where both the gas and electric motors are working in unison?

Great review. Just picked mine up yesterday. 2023 All white w/black leather interior. Was car sick for three hours after driving it home lol. My test drive was so short that I didn't feel this. It's not la smooth ride ike my Grand C that's for sure. It is a bit louder than normal with the roll back top, but to me, worth the convenience opening up by the push of a button. I have a 2018 Audi A6 3.0 that I drive most of the time anyway, this one is just for fun. I do hope I get used to the bouncing and swaying.

Would love to see you do a segment that addresses the paint blistering issue that is literally plaguing every JL since its 2018 inception. This includes our 2019 and 4 friends that have JL’s that all have the same issue. Ours is currently at the dealer and it will be there for 3 to 4 weeks to have the hood and the doors repainted. We waited 4 months for this appointment….that’s how backlogged they are. This is all after 20,000 miles.

What happens when someone takes short trips and doesn't use the engine enough? How long before the gasoline goes bad?
@cliffcarreviews Жыл бұрын
Typically it's six months before gasoline can turn. I don't know when the engine would run in this situation -- but anytime you hit the throttle past the kick-down, the engine turns on.

Cold temps will kick FORM (Fuel Oil Refresh Mode) often. Designed to prevent oil from deterioration due to fuel leak down. So really poor MPG in winter and I manage to average 47 mpg in summer. In some instances, system will trigger oil change light (at 1500 miles). Sub 20 mile round trips will trigger FORM often also, recommend running 25 minutes at hwy speed to bring up operating temps (after you fill up your gas tank).
