Smart intermediate tourers will happily turn towards an Adv which can cruise between 125-140kmph effortlessly reaching top speeds of 190-200kmph with a twin cylinder engine providing more power & stability than mileage, instead of spending heavily on 650CCs or 800CCs. • KTM490Adv can be a win-win for both.

I personally feel that X would be an issue for Indian roads and Indian market because people with exprience of 150-200cc segment would jump to X because of the pricing, and forget their skill/experiece level and it could be dangerous for themselves and others. I myself had an Pulsar AS200 and I bought the 390 Adv Std eventho X was already launched, mainly because it was the best in segment package of Traction Control and Cornering ABS, because after test rides I felt it is way better to have electronics just incase when you need it, rather than saving a bit of cash and taking the risk. But as Varun said, X is great for Pros no doubts about it, But in a bigger picture of the Indian Crowd, Std would be the best option. PS I have completed just around a 750-800kms in a span of 10 days on 390Adv so I have still not unlocked the whole potential and also to add on I clocked around 80k km on previous AS200 and this is my view.

Its good to see that KTM has given so many choices in their ADV range. its still be little bit confusing for people for choosing between these variants. Its nice that ktm finally offering adjustable suspension and spoke wheels, things that should have been given when the 390 ADV was first launched couple of years ago but its now here . If i want to choose with my heart the SW variant is my choice because it comes with very good off road capability especially compared to its rival from BMW. But if we think practically then the base X version makes good sence and most people who choose the 390 ADV will spent thier time on road more than off road.

Thank you so much Varun and PDARMY , this video has given me all the details i was looking for while sorting out which one is best for me, it was a great dilemma. Pretty sure many of them could related to what I’m saying. Most of them are tourers, and they confuse with purpose of off-roader. If you’re mostly riding on highways and mild off road ( not jumping off hard) you’d better go with Adventure X or Standard one. As tubeless is easier too when it comes to puncture.

it is a good safety net, but experienced riders might not want it, and specially in offroad conditions better to turn it off any way. ABS is enough for a lite 43 hp bike.

Yes absolutely with a push of a button. All you need to do is borrow the nano tech from Tony Stark. On a serious note though. It's definitely possible. However the efforts involved are only justified if you really are devoted. The alloy wheels have undergone lots of testing. Situations need to check a lot many boxes for those to break.

They are terrible. I just bought ADV 390 standard variant and it vibrates at all places. I took it for a small ride to Murthal from Delhi and my hands were numb after that. But, I don't know whether it will reduce after the first service or maybe I will get used to it. One more thing, I owned Gixxer 250 and G310R before this bike and they weren't this much vibrating.

You really don't need a spoke rimmed version of this bike, how would you do technical trails with absolutely no low-end torque??? What a bummer... I would rather have those adjustable forks on my 390 and keep the mags with the assurance of the tubeless tyres.

Not meant for technical trails for sure. The suspension isn't compatible, even the adjustable unit. Needs more travel and softness. Also, good point with the low-end torque. This setup works the best at high speeds.

Even though it is termed as an ADV, it is primarily a road tourer which can do some off roading (which is more than enough for 99% Indians). So spoked wheels is more of marketing than a need.

Veridian Cruise has already ported it to 390 adv but it costs 41k. Triumph has already introduced cruise control on the 765 speed triple as an accessory. Shouldn't take much time for KTM to bring it to 390.

@@virajvrooms What I meant that the cruise control is an advance feature that many higer cc machines with several features do not have. So expecting it on 390 adventure make no sense. If you are wondering why some bikes do not have adaptive cornering lights, it's because it's blood cheap compared to cruise control, which can also be installed aftermarket. Even If the bike manufacturers include adaptive cornering lights, the price would increased no more than Rs. 6000, whereas cruise control would increase the price by more than Rs. 50,000. People are skeptical about paying 4 lakh for 390 Adventure forget that they would pay an additional 50k for 390 Adventure with cruise control. So expecting cruise control on the 390 Adventure is pointless.
