A headlight protector like this (had it on all of my adventures bikes) is a really cheap investment. Some of these headlights are insanely expensive. And i like the easy install on the 890. Cheers Tjommi, 🍻

Det var nära ögat när vi var ute och buskörde senast, när gaffelbenskyddet sprack trodde jag att det var lyktan. Fick en rejäl smäll på hjälmvisiret med, där blev det ett märke. Lärdom, håll avstånd, välj en smart riktning undan grussprutet och... montera skydd i tid. Denna gången hade jag tur. På 790, var lyktglaset något blästrat men höll. 😅

Hey Matthias, would it be possible to do a video to show the luminance efficiency of the low beam and the high beam of the KTM? I'm thinking about getting one, but coming from the Multistrada 950s with its daylight like LED headlight I have the feeling that the 890 could be a little bit on the "too dark side" when it comes down to lighting. I'm often forced to ride in the dark (commuting to work, day trips and so on) which is why lighting is a huge deal or deal breaker for me (plus the general safety factor of being seen on the road). Unfortunately there is really no video or info on the internet in regards to that, so it really would be highly appreciated! Greetings from Germany. SileX 🤙

Thats a great idea, the 790/890 has the best lighting that i have had so far on a bike, with that said i do not know what bike is considered to have the best factory lighting today. The bike has a very sharp light and really makes it's presence for other trafficants. We have very long days and bright nights up here at most part of the riding season. But let's see what i can do.

@@Braapncamp It is true, but with my CRF300L I have a rally tower, which has the headlights behind the windscreen! I don't think I'll be going outside the country this year, maybe long weekend France, but mostly TET Netherlands and some nice camping and cooking. I'm looking forward to your lakeside channel chat with something brewing on the Trangia!

The T25 is brought up from my stash of stoves, that means heavy adventure 😂💪🔥. One problem is that we have a fireban right now, but that allows camping stoves (storm cookers). If there will or allready is a Extended Fireban, then there might be cold meals or restaurant adventure... bummer!

Ja verkligen, något man kanske borde fundera på att skaffa 🤔 även om risken är mindre när man kör ensam på grusväg.

@@JoonesAdventuresMC Ja risken är betydligt mindre, stenskott i trafik måhända. BMW brukar ha detta tillbehör för sina modeller. Jag hade BMW's egna på 1200GSA'n jag hade. Den hade fina snabbfästen för att ta av ock på skyddet.

@@Braapncamp Som det verkar har både BMW och Wunderlich och säkert flera än så ett skydd. Sedan är frågan om man ska gå på galler eller plats? Blir det inte sämre kylning med plast? och sämre ljus med galler.? Men kylningen kanske inte inverkar så mycket?

De här ljusen blir ju inte varma som en halogenlampa. Galler vill jag inte ha, ser inte ändamålsenligt ut. På GSA'n hade jag aldrig problem med att det skulle bli varmt. Den hade halogenlampor.

I really should take your advice and get a similar protector for my 2022 890. I get a lot of rock chips on my car & truck windshields, let alone following a buddy throwing roost at me.

Those roosts.. 😂💪🔥 I have actually roosted the twin lights of a cassic Africa Twin to bits. Always feels like a bummer, but we all know it happens so best to keep distance and smart paths. I recommend this!

I bought the same protector for my 890 but it didn’t show up any plastic bumper as you attached. Could you please suggest anything like it?

Interesting, there may be some improvement then if customer has complained. Ask Your dealer, they may get the rubber "bumpers" for free for you, in best case. Otherwise i would suggest similar that you can find in furniture stores, typical for drawers and such to close silent.

Looks good. Might need a new buddy instead of Stony. You could use it around camp to swat mosquitoes as well. Take care my Nordic riding friend.

Haha, thats true. I got reminded to do this in time at this bike. The 790 had a blasted front... I actually thought that my headlight was toasted at last buddy ride, but it was the fork protection that made that expensive sound 👍

@@Braapncamp ktm always does stupid and stranges things...umidity of tft and front break thank that lose oil trasudation, but, but in the 2019 2022 the windshield was different and you can regulate it..on the newest is fix and you can't. Sorry for my bad english

Never had that kind of problems, TFT never faild on me, never adjust the windshield, played with in the beginning but found it to be best at the higher level. The new one is alright and slightly better than the earlier design. KTM's are fun to ride! 😁✊️✊️

What are you using for a skid plate? I had a Camel ADV skid plate on my 2020 790 which I removed before selling the 790 but unfortunately it does not fit my 2023 890R

OK, this is the factory fitted skidplate. I had the factory one at the 790R as well and it held up. Hmm, i thought that all skidplated from the earlier 790/890 fit on the new 890. No real changes in that area, why does it not fit?

@@Braapncamp Here is the response from Camel ADV: Well…the plate will fit the bike BUT the 2023 doesn’t have the plastic wrap around tank lobe protectors like previous years. You could use the plate but would need to buy the plastic lobe protectors from the 2022 and earlier bike. Almost all of the aftermarket 890 skid plates will have the same problem until we can all get new plates or lobe protector designed and made.

The plastic fuel tank protectors are smaller on the 2023 890 and don't cover the entire fuel tank because the oem skid plate covers part of the fuel tank unlike earlier models. So it appears I just have to buy the 790 fuel tank protectors to allow me to use the Camel skid plate.

Ok, so the Camel ADV skidplate do not include the tank loobe part. I haven't looked them up. But the PP looks like it does the job, I have held it in my hand when I bought the bike, the dealer had one on shelf. Might end up with a replacement.

Det är bra, lika bra att börja med gott pulver direkt 💪, Jag körde på Motoz RallZ fram och bak, senare Motoz Desert. Var nöjd, de låter mycket på asfalt men bra fäste och driv. Deseert är främst för mycket stök. Rallz bra som allround däck men kompetent i stök med.

Not sure yet, i had the factory fitted at 4 seasons on the 790R. It held up well, only thing i discovered when changing oil for the first or second time was that it was hard to refit. It had changed shape even if it looked good... I asume same thing will happen to this one sooner, later or already 😂. What do You suggest? Have you seen some that You like more than the others? The PowerPart bashplate for sure looks made like a tank, AXP seems popular, are there others that are popular or have been battle proven?

Maybe it was Rooster Stoner this time 😂, leason learned is to never ride second... It will probably affect the lighting, but i will not see it for some months since we we bright nights now. I had a similar protection at my old 1200GSA and it is a must have when riding in the woods or with friends. Happy Trails Günter!
