"One-third mile," yet the pole in under 12 seconds? Perhaps if you walk the grandstands, you may have traveled one-third of a mile. For as long as I recall attending the track, everyone from announcers and fans referred to it as one-quarter mile.

It's always been referred to as 1/3 mile by everyone. My family's been racing there since the 50s. You're 100% right about the grandstands though. The track definitely isn't 1/3 mile.
