It’s not about humility or his personal thoughts on money. He doesn’t care about money. He’s smart enough to know the average income in the US is close to $40k. Logically $40k for a car in the US is a lot of money. If he thought that was a lot of money for him to shell out then I’m sure he wouldn’t have millions of dollars worth of cars just sitting on millions or dollars worth of real estate.

But something like this Nissan, or the new Corvette that Jay featured that sells for around 60k is a very realistic possibility for the average working man to be able to purchase. I also appreciate how Jay notes that 40k is still a lot of money, which it is, and how he has always stayed humble through the years. I don't get how anyone could be jealous or resent Jay's success. He's the exact type of guy I enjoy seeing do well, a great ambassador for car people everywhere. I'm putting one of these in my garage, that's all there is to it. I love it. One commenter said Aston Martin on the side look and I totally agree, and ya know what, I think AM's are some of the damn sexiest cars on the market. I just can't afford one of them, but I CAN afford one of these. And I think the front grill is fine, I'm sure aftermarket will bring plenty of options. The only thing about the big grills, in summer time the bugs just clog into those things like crazy.

I have a track version of the Toyota 86, simple, 6 speed manual, not buttons on the steering wheel, just pure unadulterated and a fun rear wheel drive car. Not fast as my Monaro, but tight in the twisty mountain runs. I recon the Z would be the same. Forget the infotainment, just analog gauges, 6 speed shifter, rear wheel drive is all that's needed.

I have a 330ci 5spd on pretty tight coilovers obviously not the same car but same concept and extremely fun too drive you just can’t beat a rwd with a manual transmission and I love he included power to weight ratio that’s one of the biggest factors of a cars handling and probably why I like mine so much 😂

I wish this had analogue gauges. the LED Instrument Panel makes me wary tbh. screens get dim, short out, need replacement....when's the last time you had to swap a tach or a speedo out of the dash?! 9 times out of 10 it's a sensor or wire somewhere on the engine...NOT in the Dash!

I watch a lot of Jay Lenos Garage videos. I could never afford the vast majority of cars he showcases, and even this one would stretch my wallet. That said, I love this car. I want this car. To know that Jay has good things to say about it, just makes me want it that much more. Thanks Jay! Please keep loving cars like you do, and please keep sharing them with us!

My wife wanted me to consider giving up motorcycles so I went and test rode every sports car out there. I quickly realized 2 seaters were all I was interested in. The cars that bubbled to the top as engaging and fun to drive at 10 miles above the speed limit were the Miata and the 370Z. All of the higher spec cars were actually too capable which equated to boring driving 10 mph above the speed limit on a curvy road. In the end I wasn't ready to leave motorcycling behind, and the last time I owned a roadster and motorcycles at the same time I always found myself only driving the roadster in the rain with a small chance the sun would come out.

My favorite car that I owned when I was 19 (back in 1980) was 1973 240Z. No Jay the hood didn;t have a stick. It stayed up on its own. Oh, and it opened up the other way too. You didn't worry about the hood opening up at high speeds. My question about this new Z....Can you order after market louvers for the rear window???

Well son-of-a-gun, a new Nissan that I actually like! If I had my druthers it’d also be available as a light weight/naturally aspirated version with no central screen, minimal electronics and roll up windows…to match that sweet hood stick ;^)

Yeah thats the thing that turned my nose up also, i dont want screens in my car i want analog guages. Ones you can still read with the sun coming in the window and without excessive brightness of illumination, plus i dont care for integrated stereo systems... Give me a single or double din stereo i can replace with something else if i dont like the original without hacking the dash up

im hoping mitsubishi gets their hands on this. they might be more likely to build a bare bones version. but technology sells cars. look at GM. even if they know it wont work in a year. it still gets sales. but i think the days of cars like the Evolution RS are gone.

@@Colt45hatchback that would be amazing. The problem is, it's been so long since mitsubishi has made a rwd car. No name that makes sense would really help. I had an 09 galant ralliart. I loved it, but thats an entirely different car. The starion would be more relevant to the z platform, but it's such a lesser known name. If I had any say in it. I'd put the money into offering it in fwd and awd to bring the eclipse name back to a sports car.
