It’s not about humility or his personal thoughts on money. He doesn’t care about money. He’s smart enough to know the average income in the US is close to $40k. Logically $40k for a car in the US is a lot of money. If he thought that was a lot of money for him to shell out then I’m sure he wouldn’t have millions of dollars worth of cars just sitting on millions or dollars worth of real estate.

Mr. Leno, very nice to hear you concede that $40k is still a lot of money. I've grown very tired of watching these car shows where they don't even mention how ludicrous the prices of these cars have become. I enjoy getting your take on something that many folks could actually buy. And the car looks good.

Yea it's a lot of money if you are a person just looking for an A-Z car. But in the market where people are looking to get a little more out of their dollar, a sports car with POWER, looks, handling, comfort and design, that costs around $40k is a rare find. And like chaka said it's even more amazing at a $40k price when you account for inflation because it's way more car for the SAME money!

@Nidhoggrr
@Nidhoggrr 3 жыл бұрын
@@ap2.v1 I don't think DmanRC is able to separate sports cars from normal cars because 40k for a good NEW sports car is cheap compared to what others that offer the same specs cost. Or understands inflation really because once you factor that in it becomes obvious that new cars have NEVER been cheap. The only time cars are actually cheap is when they are used and super old. People that complain about prices in any generation have no concept of economics over time.

What I love about Jay and these shows is that we will get to see him drive Paganis, Koeniseggs and other incredibly rare and expensive (multiple millions of dollars for most of them) supercars which is a real treat and something I really enjoy watching, even though I realize unless I happen upon that lucky scratch off ticket someday, cars in that elite tier are probably never going to be in my garage. But something like this Nissan, or the new Corvette that Jay featured that sells for around 60k is a very realistic possibility for the average working man to be able to purchase. I also appreciate how Jay notes that 40k is still a lot of money, which it is, and how he has always stayed humble through the years. I don't get how anyone could be jealous or resent Jay's success. He's the exact type of guy I enjoy seeing do well, a great ambassador for car people everywhere. And this little 400 horsepower Nissan would be as big of a thrill for me to drive as a new Ferrari would be some other people. Great stuff.

Since it had been a Vermont car it spent most of its life in a garage, was only driven in dry conditions, so it was almost like new when I got it. It was an incredible car to drive and it was totally reliable. It wasn’t until I had other cars, and began driving lots of other peoples cars, that I realized just how incredible the Z was. I’d still rather have it than most new cars. I can’t wait to drive this new Z, no doubt it will be amazing. I just can't afford one of them, but I CAN afford one of these. And I think the front grill is fine, I'm sure aftermarket will bring plenty of options. The only thing about the big grills, in summer time the bugs just clog into those things like crazy.

Not fast as my Monaro, but tight in the twisty mountain runs. I recon the Z would be the same. Forget the infotainment, just analog gauges, 6 speed shifter, rear wheel drive is all that's needed.

My wife wanted me to consider giving up motorcycles so I went and test rode every sports car out there. I quickly realized 2 seaters were all I was interested in. The cars that bubbled to the top as engaging and fun to drive at 10 miles above the speed limit were the Miata and the 370Z. All of the higher spec cars were actually too capable which equated to boring driving 10 mph above the speed limit on a curvy road. In the end I wasn't ready to leave motorcycling behind, and the last time I owned a roadster and motorcycles at the same time I always found myself only driving the roadster in the rain with a small chance the sun would come out.
