Surprised at comments playing Mage Knight with others. I'd never do that. I want it all to myself, to take my time. The amazing thing to me about those LCG games is that some people voted for all 3! I can't imagine the cost of that. Traded Marvel Champions pretty quick, I have a ton of Arkham from a trade that I'd sell and I'm all in on LOTR. I've loved the books, the movies and the game. Sprawlopolis was combined with other opolis games. Well said Jason. Love you man! You helped me enjoy my 15 minutes of fame each year. And thank you Liz for carrying on the tradition. And a thank you as well for everyone who has joined Jason or Liz over the years to discuss my baby. I'm truly humbled. This is the best tiny little corner of the internet :)

I have LOTR and AH LCH all in. I’m not interested in MC due to theme and $. Maybe I could do it if I didn’t have all (and I do mean all) my cards incased in Dragonshield sleeves.

Great discussion on this entire series!! So excited to see Maggie and Derrick as first time commentaries! Liz, thanks for continuing to carry the torch on this series. I look forward to it every year. I sure hope someone takes over the list. Kevin, you have done an amazing job. Thank you for all the hard work over the years! I played Nemo's War for the first time this year, expected to hate it, but had such a great experience that it jumped up to be my #17. So what's the "next step" game to complete my transformation into a War Gamer?
@BeyondSolitaire9 ай бұрын
It truly depends on the time period and game weight you prefer, but I often recommend the Valiant Defense games, particularly Castle Itter or Pavlov’s House, as great starters. David Thompson is an excellent designer of accessible wargames that have a lot of drama and pack a good punch.

Liz, I’ve been wanting to play Mage Knight for a long time, but I have toddlers that will destroy it if I leave it up. Do you think it’s worth playing on TTS? Or alternatively, is there a saving mechanism?
@BeyondSolitaire9 ай бұрын
I am truly not sure because I haven't played MK on TTS. I'd consult the Mage Knight: Board Game group on Facebook. The level of collective knowledge over there is impressive/terrifying.

Mage Knight is one of my all time favorite games, but I vastly prefer it at 2 player than solo. I tried playing it solo a few times after having played it many times at other player counts and it just didn't click for me.

34:08 what is the issue with Aeon’s End, Liz?
@BeyondSolitaire9 ай бұрын
Two separate things for me. The main one is that I just got overwhelmed by so much new stuff and burned out on it, and I haven’t un-burned. The other side issue is that Indie Boards & Cards is wrapped up in the Terraforming Mars/generative AI stuff and I no longer trust them to make games with art by real humans, which I have a personal problem with. So best to just move on. No judgement to others who will choose differently, AE is a great game, I am just done.
@CamObscura889 ай бұрын
@@BeyondSolitaireoh totally forgot it was the same group behind Terraforming Mars. That makes total sense (and the content is beyond overwhelming too - I personally stopped after three boxes as that already felt like more than enough for a lifetime!).
