Thanks for another great video. Thanks for taking the time to review models that are not hypersleds. Just an FYI, Polaris does make the 650 Indy SP in 129 and 146. The gauge is called the "Polaris message center" not PIDD, the PIDD is the old color GPS system on the AXYS chassis that is now discontinued. That track is the ripsaw 2.

I rented one in the UP. Very good sled. Fast. 97mph indicated and great pull everywhere. Basic suspension. Adequate economy with dual mapping for 87 or 91non oxy. Must be set manually! Would liken the ride to sc5 skidoo skid. A good value! Not as refined as a 600 or 800 etec sled or as good as an R-motion skid.

Don't be alarmed about that thing not starting on the first crank. The first crank energizes the system, and the second fires it up. It's not the same EFI setup as an etec. Some Matryx will start on first try. Most won't

I have a 2022 650 VR1 and my friend has a 2023 SP 650 exactly like the one you reviewed. Mine might ride better with the Walker Evans shocks, but you won't get a better sled for your money than the SP. As far as gas milage, we'll I am 69 yrs, and ride with 850's and at the pumps there might be a dollar difference in a fill. I haven't found any sled I owened to be much different on fuel. Even my Viper was the same as the 850's. My 600 e tec was better but not by a wide margin. Good review of the sled.

I'd love to ride something like this but can't bring myself to get one. For what sleds cost today, I have to go with a 4 stroke because I'd have a 2 stroke worn out long before the loan was paid off.

Sounds like a nice sled. Evinrude knew the EPA wanted to ban two stroke outboard Motors so they hired a German Engineering firm to develop Direct Injection. Thus no raw fuel going out the exhaust port because there is no fuel in the cylinder until after the piston comes up and covers the exhaust Ports. Bombardier Bought Evinrude and used this Direct Injection technology on their sleds. I know Bombardier owns the Patent when will it run out or when will Polaris and Arctic Cat Pay Royalties for this Technology so they can get much better fuel economy and emissions too? My first sled is I think a 1992 Model Polaris Indy 500 with Fuel Injection. Polaris only used it was they were too cheap to pay Rocky Mountain Performance or whomever developed the system the Royalties they agreed to. Seems If I recall Polaris got sewed for $1 Million and stopped using that Fuel Injection system after only one or two model years. This sled is pull start only but if you don't have a big strong battery in it there is not enough fuel pressure for it to start. Of course Skidoo has a super magnet charging system that generates a lot of amperage at pull cord speeds and it fires first pull normally .

a skidoo mxz 850 weighs 480lbs, i wouldnt exactly say a 650 that weighs 29lbs more is "pretty impressive"
@roller_47 Жыл бұрын
What makes this thing so heavy? If that over 500 lbs number is accurate it's not even close compared to the MXZ or Renegade Sport offerings from Doo that weigh around 450.
@bedlambikes Жыл бұрын
While going to "comparable" models a Renegade 850X weighs 486 pounds. Indy 850 VR1 weighs 467 pounds for a 19 pound weight savings. Add the electric start if pull starting is too much for you, and the VR1 is 487 pounds. Don't forget, the Polaris then has a back up rope starter, shocks with actual adjustment capabilities, remote reservoirs, and a modern gauge instead of the tiny 1985 Subaru inspired orange gauge...all for just one pound difference.
@HankAaronJoseph19 Жыл бұрын

So this is where all the 650s went. I called 30+ dealers during the morning hours of snow-check and couldn’t get a 650. Levi LaVallee got a few 650s. Easily got a 650 for 2022 but was forced to get an 850 for 2023.

I'm not sure how i feel about the jackshaft braking, it's like the brakes on a car or truck being before the differentials, there's a reason why it's not done on cars and trucks, it puts way to much stress on the drive line. You're basically stopping the rotation when the wheels are still being propelled by the vehicles momentum.
