SNOWTECH Magazine just had a great article comparing SMARTSHOX and DYNAMICS. SMARTSHOX is better all around with controlled dampening and rough trails, plus its less expensive. Love that SKI-DOO feeling 👌

Would love to have an episode on what you all think of the state of the snowmobile industry with Yamaha and Arctic Cat leaving the market and what you think the future looks like given the high prices and low sales of new units.

I have been a polaris guy for years, from the start of my snowmobiling life actually... last one i bought was 2020 850 assault.. awesome sled... however, due to the continuous recalls and horror stories i switched to skidoo.. had to, its a trust thing... otherwise awesome sleds, loved them when they were dependable...

When I worked in the snowmobiling industry decades ago, it was clear that the Big Four manufacturers didn’t want tough questions. Snowmobiling was the love of my life, but I was concerned that this industry was committing corporate suicide by making one unwise decision after another that repelled so many customers that Arctic Cat and Yamaha are now circling the drain (likely with 2025 being their last snowmobile production year) and overall industry sales plummeted alarmingly. Many years ago, I thought their strategy of burying their heads in the sand would accelerate their demise, and sure enough, it did. My tough questions were intended to get them back on the right track, but they wouldn’t listen. As they lose their jobs and paychecks, I wonder if they will ponder their mistakes. A relevant quote from Walmart founder Sam Walton: “There is only one boss: the customer. And he can fire everybody in the company from the chairman on down, simply by spending his money somewhere else.” Potential snowmobile customers have fired many snowmobile manufacturers with more unemployment certain to follow. Another relevant quote from Robert Schuller: “Big egos have little ears.”

vmax, and srx viper legendary, yamaha built the best 2 stroke triple ever! and pioneered 4 stroke sleds. now, they packed it in. yamaha would dominate again if they'd just develop a lighter, snappier 2 stroke sled to compete with ski-doo and polaris. their sleds hold their value and are fast, powerful and reliable. its really too bad they have stopped production. new genesis 4 stroke was amazing. power, light weight, reliable and could handle heavy modification but it was a mistake to partner with arctic cat on chassis and designing. i have a 2014 anything that has gone wrong with it is arctic scraps design or parts. also own 3 700 vipers, still give new 800s, 850s and bigger turbo sleds a run for their money even after 20 years. dad had a 70s srx racer back in the day. ran on aviation fuel

It's funny how every year snowmobiles supposedly are always light years ahead of the old models. But if that was the case they should have been perfect years ago. Sure they are better than snowmobiles from 40 years ago especially in the suspension department. But snowmobiles from 30 years ago had great suspensions and most were well balanced and powerful. I would say that the difference between 20 year old snowmobiles and new ones are almost negligible. It's getting to the point where there's not much more you can do to a snowmobile other than to hype it up. I would say the biggest improvements in snowmobile technology was from the mid eightys to the mid and late ninetys hands down.

really love the assault s/b but how many "stop rides" am i gonna have..leaning towards the ski-doo something,w/ yamaha pulling out...nobody has the reliability of a yammy before they jumped into the litter box,all though primo price, more times than not,you got more than what you paid for, bring back the suit sucker twin w/non-ratchet drivers, rebuildable kyb's and a1.50"/retractable picks plus dig a hole in 12"of ice, start a fire in the middle of nowhere and of coarse side scan radar w/shot start, good vid,Merry Christmas to you all!

Would love to buy new but at those prices hell no!! And I would never! With only a small window each year I can’t justify it. Hell last 3 years in Michigan we haven had rideable snow in the southern lower. Prolly put on 20 miles in 3 years! Don’t always have time to drive 3-4 hours north!! Would rather spend it elsewhere like a side by side or older sleds that are more reliable and affordable!!! Keep those prices up and the last 2 developers will also reduce production and stop all together!! Greedy fks! Yall keep pooping in the hands that feed ya! It’s almost comical yall are creating the fastest path to your extinction!!!

We said that as Yammy die hards over the past several decades, since the RX-1, really. Until they reel in the pricing and get the reliability under control you're going to see less and less engagement now that the covid hysteria has died down. Insurance is up, fuel is up, interest payments are up and so is everything else right now. A lot of people cannot afford to have a 25k toy. Think about it. You can get a top of the line sport bike for the same cost with far more performance and engineering (especially in the motor) for the same price. There needs to be a reshuffling in all the brands and AC is at the forefront. Frankly, the worst parts of my Sidewinder are AC engineering. Go look at the Apex and see them running for 60000+ kms with little to no issues. No blown belts, no reverse locking up, no misaligned plastics, no electrical glitches or clutch alignment issues, etc. Reliability needs to be part of the equation going forward and every single buyer should be demanding and rewarding that ethos.

As it seems we've now lost Arctic Cat as well I hope Ski Doo and Polaris are taking copious amounts of notes. Get the price of these sleds down or at least focus on 1 decent trail sled under $15k or we won't have a sport left. Snowmobiling is about escaping the daily grind so why do we need to focus so hard on gadgets and smart shocks etc etc? It's about enjoying the ride. I know alot of folks buy these expensive new machines but alot more don't. Dollars are harder to come by these days than ever before and if we want this amazing sport to survive the prices have to come down.

Sled prices are up for sure-but I was looking at ski doo’s site. You can get a 600 MXZ with e-start for under $10,000. It’s 125 hp. It’s fully capable sled. Are we saying we want cheaper sleds and there they are right before us?
