The nice part about the seven speed is that the first six are nice and close and allow a great low end spacing, and when you are on the highway, you can turn less than 2000rpm at +70mph, and the fuel economy you get from that... So, rare that you do spirited driving with 7th gear engaged; spend all your time in the first six, and it gates really intuitively.

The “T” is the right 911 spec for an enthusiast. But for a bit less money, a Cayman GTS 4.0 caters to a more hard-core driver and adds the inherent balance of a mid-engine and the naturally-aspirated response and sound. The tech isn’t as current, but having rewatched your review of a 2021 GTS 4.0, it’s probably even better for sheer driving pleasure (since the T only has 2 seats anyway).

The worst part about the manual 911 is the fact that 2nd is good for 70 because a board of germans said "Ach Ja, ve vill make ze better 0-100 time zis way!" not realizing that putting shorter gears would make it more fun. But then again, autobahn.

Porsche needs to make a more affordable line and have the most expensive one maybe hit somewhere in the 70k range which I’d say is fine for an average person making less than 100k a year. I’d love to get a gt4 but that would take so long to afford 160-200k car

Overall interior feels cheaper, no aluminium inserts on the door, dash or the steering wheel. If you take off the Porsche badge , it could be a VW Scirocco any day.

I like the philosophy of the Porsche T models but it's a bit annoying that you lose the backseats for a negligible weight savings. If the standard Carrera had a manual option it would be a no-brainer for me.

You can option the rear seats back in on a T but you will lose the ability to option the carbon buckets if you do add them.

I've driven a T, but never a GTS 4.0L. Most definitely the Carrera T is easier to live with, the torque is plenty down low, at least a lot more than the 4.0. This means that unless you rev the Cayman to the moon, the T will feel faster. If the Cayman had shorter gearing, it would definitely be my choice, but with the longer gears there is lots of torque loss at the wheels and sadly you won't be shifting that often given its high rev-range. I know you didn't ask my opinion, but it would be the T for me.

I struggled with that same question as they are both amazing. Absolutely love the GTS 4.0 with the NA engine, but as a wise man once told me, the 718 is "a" Porsche, the 911 is "THE" Porsche. That's why I ordered the T.

For you if you get a 911: Manual if you're going to be road driving. It's effortless and one of the last vestiges of proper driver connection. The PDK is great 10 years later after an extensive service. So for the mileage, I still would consider it to be higher maintenance costs than a good driver in a MT. Otherwise the car has been very reliable. But the Cayman R was built for tracks, and the PDK is a little clunky in lower gears. Perfectly normal operation of the transmission, but the 911T and Cayman R are making like half the power of the Turbo models, so these cars are not making monster power to the wheels. Definitely not by today's standard for power. It isn't all about that when you're looking in the 80-120k sticker range on a Porsche. I'd say the manual is the better option unless you have to commute in the car in heavy traffic. Then you might like the PDK. Porsche has made the choices equally good but I'd still get and live with the MT over the PDK.

I LOVE this car and want a 911, but the speeds he's going on this road are the same I go on similarly technical roads in my modified MINI R50. My point is, you don't need to be able to afford a $100K+ car in order to enjoy a pure driving experience.

This is my favorite 911 in the normal line-up 🥰 Yes, the GT3 with 9,000 RPM is EVEN better 🥰🥰 But unlike the GT3 this Carrera T isn't entirely made of unobtainium, and is probably all of the performance we need :), frankly I love them both, and they represent the only 911s I would buy because ethey resonate so much with my soul 🥰🥰

I have always wanted a porsche 911, but due to their pricing policy, will not get it, I am from Czech, just few hundred km where the famous Porsches are made, Stuttgart Germany, and yet the price in the Czech starts $ 177.000 the exact same car y ou can get in the USA aroudn $119.000, additionally the economy of our country is not that great as of the USA, the price difference is astounding......... was ready to fork out some cash to buy one after saving for many years, but got a motorcycle instead......
