I got a pretty loaded up base model, 16k of options including Dolamite silver paint. It suits what I wanted perfectly. Fun to drive, relatively economical, and very attractive. I’m curious as to the sales figures by trim. It seems like the dealers are getting 10 or more base models for every S or GTS.

Metallic silver! But, does "paint to sample" actually mean they'd paint to a sample I provide?

It could, there are two tiers to paint to sample. Paint to sample is a collection of colors outside of the standard to choose from, then you have paint to sample plus, which I believe (don't quote me) is where they will match any color.

Just bought a base with a number of options and I love it. We live in the city and it has more than enough power and is very nimble yet comfortable. And the size is perfect for a couple of empty nesters.

The Macan is a great car, and for a company that is known for charging for pretty much everything, a Macan with the premium package offers pretty good value for money in this space.

Porsche Macan in the color chalk would be lovely…. But $2910 additional for chalk as opposed to $0 for black or white…. Hmm, tricky hahaha😅Nonetheless, great review!

I test drove the Macan and Cayenne and I prefer the Macan! Even if it’s an “entry” level Porsche. It felt so good to drive the Cayenne is big and heavy

Don't get me wrong, it's a great car, but does it feel like a Porsche? Not unless it's optioned with PASM. Just make sure to check that box.

@@carcaveofficial Definitely. This is the one Porsche where PASM is a must in my view. The base spring suspension and engine in the Cayenne are fantastic. The base Macan has tons of body roll without PASM. That coupled with the base engine, it doesn't quite hold up in my opinion. Not saying you have to get the T, just check the PASM box. You won't regret it.

If you want a 2.0 and the PASM, go for the Macan T. It comes with it and other interesting options, like sport chrono, 20” wheels etc.

Base is an Audi it has a Audi VW motor.With Porsche its all about the motor not the options.

A few months ago, I bought a low mileage 2022 base Macan (no different than the 2023 model). One thing I would like to point out regarding price is that the base price of $60,500 doesn't include several must have items such as a sunroof, power seats, lane change assist and heated seats. A $60,000 car and no sunroof or power seats? For $3660 you can buy the Premium Package Plus which includes all those must haves. The car you have here also has the standard 19” wheels. To get wheels that are actually attractive is another $3000 or more. So just wheels and PPP package alone gets you over $67,000. My car’s sticker was $74,400 and you can go much higher without a lot of effort. . If you're like me you may think I'll just buy a Macan S. Same problem with an S though. Add the S price difference of $12000 and $67000 car above would be $79,000. I do love the car though and highly recommend it. Just be aware that you’re going to be in the $70k plus range for a base Macan.

That is the unfortunate reality of Porsche ownership. It is all in the options, but then again, it does have its benefits. Some people might not care about the sunroof, but they simply must have the nicer wheels. Others might be obsessed with heated seats but have a vendetta against cooled seats. Then you have the guy/gal that doesn’t care about any options and wants the cheapest possible build. It does suck paying for options, but I do see why they do it… (also obviously, they want to make more money which is probably the biggest motivator)

True your statement people like different things but like Callisto said a $60k car without features that should be standard?, don’t think so. I do like that everything can be added separately but the base MSRP should be way lower to compensate.

One difference between 2022 and 2023 is that 2023 comes standard with Active Cruise Control. It was an extra option in 2022.
