I like how the white geen pulled out the white and green on the dinosaur print. I could actually see the chain in this one. Nice job.

I think chain reaction is a really cool pattern and I loved how you ditched all the white and let the dinosaurs take over! I can see it in my mind with oh so many different kinds of prints. Haha back to work on my Time Machine quilt top. I will be very sad to see 2023 , Year of the 3 yard quilt come to a close. You have been an inspiration, and a motivation! 🥰💕🥰🇨🇦

Personally, I liked the “kid themed” fabric because the size of these completed quilts is a good size for kids.

Thank you for showing us this pattern. I have been looking at it for a while now but have not been able to see it different from what is in the book. I love how the darker dino 🦖 fabric recedes so the twists of cream and green shine.

I love how you switched the position of the focus fabric. I also made the Chain Reaction pattern a couple of years ago and did the same. Mine was a floral and I love how it turned out.

I have made this quilt as well - its a great easy and fun sew. Yours turned out super cute. I also elected to do what you did - and my feature fabric was what they used for background - to me its like little picture frames almost. One of my back burner ideas is to do this one with layer cake squares instead. The thing that I didn't realize until I sewed it was that there's a bit of an optical illusion in the sizing of these blocks. If memory serves when I did this - I approached it a bit different and trimmed my triangles with one of my trimmer rulers to take off the overhang so it would line up on the base square and trimmed it after to allow myself to not be working on bias while I sewed the seam line.

This turned out so cute! I have never liked the patterns with the big center of white - it just draws your eye to that and nothing else. But using the dark fabric instead really look so good. I may consider this pattern for one of my future quilts. Happy quilting……………….

I did a similar thing when I used this pattern. I used a pokemon print for the number two fabric. I think that is a better way to go unless the plan is to really highlight some quilting (white spaces are always great for showing off a quilt design). Loved the green, and the white print kind of felt like it was mimicing the dots on the dinosaurs. nice!

I also did one with a dark in the middle instead of a light. Along the way, I realized there could have been some strip sets used instead of as much cutting. Don't know what Donna Robertson was thinking! It's so different from their usual method. But it worked and is beautiful!

This turned out so nice! I made this pattern in larger size. If I do it again, I will make regular corner squares, draw the line, stitch and flip. I used flannel and those bias edges were so stretchy. Tore my hair out, but looked great in the end. I am enjoying your channel!
@terriblyrad
@terriblyrad Жыл бұрын
Stitch and flip would have been so much easier! I would have been 100% okay with tossing that waste if it meant better corners!

Cute... One thing I did notice is that you don't seem to iron your fabric before you cut the pieces, prior to sewing. I was told that one should to this to remove the any o the creases. I always enjoy watching your your videos

I haven't been ironing first off just because I got lazy and just wanted to cut. 😅 usually I'm better about that!

Very nice! The fabric and color choices are great! What is that beautiful pink, white, black and green quilt top I spy behind you while you are cutting the fabric for this quilt? Will we be seeing any video about that? Maybe a bonus video, as it doesn’t look like a 3 yard quilt! I can’t wait to see the completed Chain Reaction quilt.

The black white and pink was a quilt I was quilting for a local. Sadly not mine, nor did she remember what the pattern was. She pulled the whole thing from her stash!

I had trouble using the template to cut the corners for the snowball block so I bought a 1/4 yard extra of each fabric for the triangles, cut 2 1/4” squares and used the easy corner triangle method to make the snowball blocks.
@terriblyrad
@terriblyrad Жыл бұрын
If i was to do it again, I would probably do a snowballed corner like that instead of the template. that way I would know they are consistent

I lke the colors and fabrics you chose but the design doesn't hold together as well as the original. I think it's because the dinosaur fabric is so directional. Some are going up, some are going down, some are going sideways, etc. Their movement distracts from the very strong pattern created by the thin strips.
