As a model aircraft flyer of 50 years - I'm the last one to want to judge other model flyers. BUT - a proper executed landing approach - with a glide slope is paramount to a successful landing. Not just diving for the strip.
@leecowell8165 Жыл бұрын
Yep... Land before you have a dead stick as well. That means a reliable engine & setup. these flyers just dove at the strip with no consistent approach at all. I hardly ever missed the runway and we often had puddles to dodge here in FL. Most times after landing I taxied my plane right up to where I was standing and cut the engine with throttle low trim tab that's how well you need to have the plane set up. I flew on the ham radio channel because I had a ham license so having a channel was never an issue. The only problem was per AAA rules only 4 pilots could be flying at once at our airfield (which was golf range parking lot).

Exactly! These people should not be flying these type of aircraft with their obvious lack of experience in the basics of flying! They obviously don't have a lack of money though, what beautiful giant scale R/C models! I flew everything from from park flyers to giant scale and full size aircraft and was an intro pilot/instructor for over 40 years at the local flying club site and airfield. Unfortunately I suffered a seizure in 2012 that caused me to lose my medical, and even though all of the dozens of doctors I eventually had to see ran a multitude of tests on me, including wearing a helmet like devise that had a whole bunch of little probes trying to poke into my head while I tried to stay awake as long as necessary so as to induce a seizure. It took me four days without sleep or taking my medications and I finally had a seizure for them to "map" in my brain but they still couldn't find out what exactly happened and even though they have them under control with medications I will never get my medical back. Now either the seizures or the handfull of medications I take every day are causing me to have shaking and sometime bad twitching in my hands and fingers so even though I still fly cheap little "parkflyer foamies" that don't cost much and can really take a beating, I quit building and flying my favorite which were giant scale WWII fighters from all of the allied and axis types. So now I build and race classic Mopar (Chrysler-Dodge-Plymouth) muscle cars with my son, who I also taught to fly when he was five.

Dear All, I personally fly at this site frequently. It is an active club and has pilots flying here everyday.... literally everyday 365 days a year & easily over 15,000 flights a year. Obviously accidents do happen, but this montage of crashes is compiled over many months (vs the last compilation). Any constructive comments are welcome but please first state what type of planes you fly and numbers of flight you do per year. We fly large scale turbine jets (over 2.5m), F3A, large scale 3D planes (over 100cc) here every week. We certainly welcome comments from very advance pilots, but probably don’t waste time if you’re not there yet!

I have been flying rc aircraft for 20 years a little bit of everything really gas, electric ,planes helicopters and drones it looks to me like a lot of the crashes you have shown were caused by.not having the cg right they were tail heavy I think
@DESTINYFPV Жыл бұрын
Then if that's true they would have enough experience to know better then use cheap equipment and cg being tail heavy was definitely the problem on most of them if you had flown much you would know this the nose high attitude and tail wagging is a sure sign and the porpoiseing also not caused by cheap equipment but poor balance.

lol. How many appearances did that orange jet (the one that was hit by the drone) make in this video? Drone crash, tree crash, runway fence crash, hover crash, hard landing into barricade crash, hard landing pushes gear through the wing crash. In the clip with the drone collision you can see the repair from the crash at 26:00 pushing the gear through the top of the wings. Just watching that high alpha hover, I'd think the pilot was highly skilled. But I think he may be more brave than skilled.

So many comments for improvement here, but ultimately my advice would be: - Keep an eye on where the landing strip is, don't just look at the aircraft, look at where you're landing so that you land on the strip. This also serves as a safety check to ensure that there are no people in your way. - Don't fly jet turbines, I didn't see a single RC pilot in this video with sufficient skillful to be flying such powerful and dangerous propulsion methods. The planes are far too big and powerful and could cause serious harm to people, and to wildlife when crashed, causing fires in dry environments. Stick to electric propulsion and smaller aircraft. - Once you're airborne, you don't need to remain at full throttle, pull the throttle back to 50% once up in the air and flying, give yourself time to feel and command the controls, otherwise the plane is flying too fast for your skill-level and I saw lots of examples of RC pilots in this video trying to fly the aircraft in ways that the scale model isn't capable of flying. A 737 scale model isn't supposed to be flying like an F18... - Overall, so much time and money lost in this video, simply because of hobbyists flying far over and above their abilities. It's incredibly entertaining to watch, but also saddening to see such beautiful aircraft wasted and destroyed.
