I definitely think that a 2023 page is needed behind that name pages. You can even combine the key in the back or create a new one. Or make a key bookmark/ruler/tag you insert in a Target dollar spot pocket (the one that comes out every school year), recycle an old envelope and tape it, or create your own. As a suggestion for that cover page, maybe print out yourself reading a book or an image of one. If you are going to archive this, then a 2023 cover page/divider is a must to separate it from the other years. Deeply enjoyable run through of the reading journal, Jess. TFS!

I think I agree that a separate cover page is a must. and I love the idea of a photo of me reading. Or even holding a stack of books! I got some pretty 2023 year stickers from JojosPrettyPaperShop so I’ll use that with it.

@KnitPlanJess Hope to see that flip through in the future. A short/story, perhaps? But it also gave me an idea. If possibly in the future, maybe a picture of you with whatever you used, print it on a paper that is wearable by markwrs, and maybe that cover page can be reused again. Or same concept but regular paper and use those smaller rectangular pockets (similar to those Target dollar spot ones) that are used as labels ANF you can reuse that cover page numerous times but changing the paper inside the label with another year or so. So many various ways to make a cover page...😊

102 on the goodreads if i counted correctly 😂 i had to! I love this style journal more than a bullet journal bc you can rearrange things… i may eventually do this

Also - I highly encourage this style of reading journal if keeping one in a bujo is nerve wracking or you want to be able to move things around. I will most likely be adding another page for goodreads depending on how many I actually read.

I use a ringed planner for mine because I love Japanese paper and it can be thin. I can use hole punch reinforcements.

I have this same happy notes that you're using for my reading journal. I noticed yours has book titles! Mine has phrases like "be fearless" instead. So weird!

Ohh yes i love it! I actually did my reading journal in a disc bound system too, but i couldn‘t find happy planner inserts i found fitting so i basically made everything from scratch with scrapbook paper and regular dotted filler paper! Hope u enjoy to use your planner ❤️

One of the most fulfilling parts of my reading journal is making it from scratch! I was tempted to create my own monthly calendars but using those from a planner just made sense.

I’m declaring 2023 as the year of reading what I enjoy - I already have one book to add to the DNF page. I have never struggled to get through an audiobook like I was struggling with this one 😭

I wish more people did reading planners! I love mine and have used it for about a year now. I use a dashboard layout for mine and write what books I’m reading on the left side in that long list, write things I want to read in the one box (I’m a big mood reader), and quick ratings of the books I finished in another box. On the daily side I write what books I’m reading each day (I’m always reading 5-6 at a time- nonfiction, audio, physical, and digital). I can then check off when I finish books which is super rewarding! This year I want to add some extra pages like the ones you have and utilize the monthly calendar and currently pages more. I know for my currently I’m going to make a list of all the books I read in that month and maybe add some stats from storygraph (incredible app I use with Goodreads). I don’t know what to do for my monthly calendar though. I don’t want it to be repetitive and because I use NetGalley too I often don’t have books I’m watching to be released in certain days but right now that’s what I’m leaning toward. Anyone for any other ideas for the monthly calendar page?

Since you use netgalley, do you share reviews on IG, TikTok, or a blog? I think a monthly calendar would be fantastic for writing when a book releases so you can share the review that day. Or even share that day that the book is available (if you post reviews before the publication date) I love the idea of using the dashboard - your use of that planner for a reading journal is fantastic!

Hey Jess. I wanted to put a reading planner together last year and never got there. I'm determined this year. I have a book case full of older romances I bought at a library sale. This is the year I read them. Once I read them, I put 1/2 the cover price in my savings envelope towards a writing conference I'd like to attend. I like the publishing dates. As an author, I'm interested in what you like to read. I'm always looking for Beta readers who understand 'deadline' . lol Thanks for teaming up with Ilysse. I love both of you guys' channels. I love reading a lot of women’s fiction, fiction, and rom-com. Audiobook is when I love the thrillers & horror. I think I love your idea of how to put away money as you read. When I’m done reading physical books, I sell them back to Half Price Bookstore for credit. I think I will start a cash envelope for when I finish a physical book too though!

Great video! I have set up my reading journal on a Hobonichi Day Free Notebook for this year. However, I love the idea of a Happy Planner for a reading journal! I love the filler paper you used in the video; which pack did it come from? Happy Holidays!

Thank you! I’m curious to know you put it to get her in a hobonichi - seriously intrigued! The filler paper came from a happy notes that I got in 2019 or 2020. I honestly couldn’t tell you what cover it was. But it has stars down the spine and makes me happy.
