As teenagers in New Zealand we kids called them ROYAL OILFIELDS! These just lack that good old British bike patina eh! How many miles before the license plate vibrates off! Never have to change the oil - just ADD oil! That will tell you if its the real thing.

I am super (no pun intended) intrigued by the Super Meteor 650 and Royal Enfield as a company in general. I hear so many reviewers that went to the release in India compare this to the Vulcan which I believe is fair as a 650 cruiser but then they go to the Rebel500 which I don't believe is a fair comparison. It's 150 cc's less and I think we should be comparing it to the Honda Shadow that has a 750 and a closer comparison with it only being 100 cc's difference. I only bring this up because I currently have a 2014 Shadow Spirit and am mildly curious about trading it in for a Super Meteor650 once they hit the States. In y'all's professional opinion, do you think the Super Meteor 650 would be an upgrade, downgrade, or just a side step to my Shadow Spirit?

I love the look and think that the displacement is about perfect. I wonder if it is possible to get side bags? There are rules on Indian roads, you just need to look closely to interpret them. They're defined by the people, not as a top down thing, based on the day to day realities of the infrastructure and population. Number one is the horn. You don't just use your horn, it requires different tones and duration based on your circumstance. A short press is "hey I'm here, not doing anything, but just letting you know". Slightly longer press or sometimes a double tap is "I'm about to change direction, be aware". A long press is "I've spotted a hazard, this might be you, or something up ahead, but be careful". On the road you'll hear about 5-10 of these "conversations" taking place at any given time, which, after a while, gives you a sense of sonar and spatial awareness that doesn't rely on what you can see alone. Then, there's pedestrians, they will walk consistently and slowly to their destinations but rarely stop. This is to create a sense of predictability in their motion that other road users can adapt to without needing to second guess which is actually more risky than trying to read the road. If you have doubts, you will just never cross a road. Then you have the shortest distance rule, in that the shortest distance to a given exit is probably the safest, because crossing traffic is typically more dangerous or not possible. Largest vehicle wins. There's a vehicle hierarchy, a truck won't stop for you, regardless of the situation. Anger creates irrational behaviour, and that will get you hurt, you'll rarely see Indian riders get angry, regardless of the chaos. You are responsible for your own immediate space triangle. What happens immediately in front of you is your responsibility. If there's space there, you're doing ok. Everyone else has that same responsibility, so everyone finds their space and avoids collision. I'm a westerner, who was lucky to live in India for a few years. Through fear of an untimely end, I learned all these "rules" fast! Fantastic that you went over to do the review in the home Country Jen, hope you had a great time.

This bike is great and it looks almost perfect. If I ever get one I am going to paint the wheels chrome or silver or grey. I really don't like the black wheels. In America on our interstates you really need at least 750 to 800 cc's to keep up with the 85 mph traffic. I know the 650 will go that fast but will it feel comfortable doing it? All they need to do is bolt on 800cc cylinders and pistons and then take a couple of teeth out of the back sprocket to gear it up just a little and bingo you will have a crusier for a man in America.

Really excited to see this bike! As a new rider I have been looking for a good started Cruiser for when I go for longer rides than around town while still being in a good price range. The other RE models just dont go fast enough to keep up with the interstate speeds around me. For my area the interstate speeds are 80mph, and riding a tiny 2 wheel vehicle at 70mph is just a recipe for disaster. This hopefully will fit that perfect niche!

I currently have a 2014 Honda Shadow and while I really enjoy it, it seems a bit too normal and sterile like other cruisers here in the States. I am a first time rider as well and this is my first bike and I've only had it about 8 months. I'm really looking forward to this Enfield and hope to get one someday. The super meteor 650 has the same motor as the INT650 and Continental GT so you should not have any problems getting over 70-80 MPH. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe on the Yammie Noob channel, he got it up to 160 km/h which I think is roughly 100 some odd miles per hour.

First, kudos to the production crew on this. It was shot beautifully and the soundtrack was spot on for riding in India. A couple of things: 1) My first bike was a ‘15 Sportster Forty-Eight, which is pretty comparable in size/height/weight to the Super Meteor, but with a much larger engine. I’m 5’7”, 165lbs, 30” inseam, and I had no problems throwing the 48 around (and that bike is also top heavy). Someone with the same measurements and level of riding skill would probably find the SM to be just fine. 2) Jen mentioned fit & finish briefly. I wish more reviews would go in to F&F much more, especially with brands, like Royal Enfield, who have struggled with that in the past. 3) Maybe Revzilla was aiming for more of an international audience with this, but how many RE dealers are in the US? The lone RE dealer in St. Louis stopped selling them a few years ago.

A quick survey of the RE website shows that they have 142 dealers across the U.S. in 42 states. They're on par with the Euro brands. For comparison, Ducati has 129, Aprilia has 68, and BMW has 156.

Will there be a 'classic' model released at the end of the year? That bike is more meteor than classic 350. The classic 350 is pretty, but under powered.

these bikes are selling a lot in the uk now. more dealers are turning up and i have 3 now within 15 miles of my home which was unthinkable 2-5 years ago. they must be doing something right you can buy 2 of these for the cost of the harley nightster special.

I absolutely wish I could justify buying an RE. My GSXR and track bikes sit too much as it is (mostly ride push bikes). Though I'd probably go for an Interceptor or Himalayan.

Wohhh....£7000 to £8000 is expensive Glad it is quite cheap here in India. 4.2 to 4.5 lakhs with all the registration and insurance (RSA),etc.
