15lb braid with a 10lb leader when it’s not freezing. And if it is freezing just 10-12lb mono. Fish on man! Looking forward to seeing everyone on the river!

They work when the water is high. But still the same snags/ loosing your rig.

Carolima rig only way to go... Inline sinker weight of choice tier to main braid n then tie w 5-7' leader(flourocarbon) tie up small floating jig head w 2" tail . All u loose is leader line n float jig head not inline sinker... Always check line every snag or fish or 10 cast both your main braid line and your lead line! Always check the tip of your hook every cast a lot of those hooks are cheap they make those full energy heads with and the tips get dark very quickly hitting the bottom of the rocks and fish and everything else plus they're cheap usually and don't even know it but the very tipsy tip of it will be bent so every cast I check my hook and always have All my equipment I use on the lanyards around neck .. Three must have quick access to braid cutter pliers sharpening stone file and eye hole pin punch for paint build up around the eye of jig head.. people wanted use another jig tipped to punch it out but then you just dull it

That second fish was snagged. No foul, it happens. But walleye never run up upriver in heavy current when fairly hooked unless snagged somewhere near or between the dorsal and tail. You'd do better slightly hoping the jig as it goes downriver.

The first fish ran up river as well. I have let legal hooked fish swim beside me in current until I net them because I thought it was neat. But that fish wasn’t snagged. I’ll get todays video up. I always release snagged fish. I snagged 5 Friday and all went back. That’s just how it goes sometimes. Fish on!

Usually 15lb power pro braid. But if it’s cold out ( 32 or below ) I run sunline 16lb mono. It has the diameter of 10lb mono and doesn’t freeze up as bad.

This is for all you people who keep saying that fish was snag watch out for DNR lol I talked to the DNR I used to work it at site cut on Maumee River. I need the rangers and turned spring walleye run I would stop in and talk to the DNR to the different guys that have come for these walleye run.. number one question I always asked because everybody wants to know If I hook that fish outside in or nose Can I really get ticket for snagging? I weren't laughed at me and said No not unless you're keeping other really bad snag fish still aren't that much of assholes he said now I can't speak very long there are some young rookies I come down here once in a great while want to be badass and if you snag a bad fish and then also have one under that was inside out they're going to need for every fish but that's very very rare so yeah he said basically you all liar playing with the lure other attacking the tail either by smacking it with their face or just got a piece of it you feel and you ain't can you hit the outside of the jaw or nose so if you're throwing back yours badly snagged fish anything that's within a half inch or an inch for the mouth You're not going to get busted No one's going to give you a ticket for that especially if you're like I said throwing all the other snacks back. So there it is fellas If you're throwing your blatantly snagged illegal fish back into the river and are keeping one or two or all of them hooked outside the mouth instead of inside w in half inch 99% ok... Only if you're keeping me stag Fisher doing stuff illegal trying to not be professional whatever maybe and keep on snake fish that's more than a half inch from the mouth are going to bust you or if you are keeping belly snags and back snags some of the younger wardens me Foster for your outside in as well but

Plus a lot of people always have their limit and keep fishing with the guy is next to him don't have their limit and the hellka fish on their paw hand it to them so they can reel it in and put it on their string or completely legal... As long as the fish is hooked and not known what the species is to get in that portal someone else they can bring it in and legally keep it or something like that lol

After every snag, you need to check your line to make sure it is not frayed, hook not bent or dulled. Don;t just continue to fish.

Bro you gotta clip the tag end of your line and learn how to tie a better knot and you wouldn’t lose them fish. Tie a uni knot or pinzer knot don’t ever tie a regular clinch knot when you really have to set a hook .

Why you guys even bothering tying line to line I m a tour guide on the Maumee River spawn 37 yrs consecutive I've been down fishing but also I studied at River I lived in born on that river whole life so I map out in the summer I check out ice outs that really fucks stuff over holes from last year and all kinds of other things but basically it's all about the water temperature and what the level of the water is above sea level as to where I know exactly where to finish .. since Carolina ricks came out I've never seen a single person ever not use either a swivel with barrel sinker tied to their lead line to their floating jig head but best way easiest way is to use inline sink wt tied to your braid with your lead fluorocarbon line leader 5 to 7 ft long with float jig n tail... Hell in the last 2 years people aren't even using tails on their floating jig heads they're just throwing pure floating jig head and catching them in the mouth...

Watch out for game wardens they are down there dressed as regular fisherman they wait till you put a snagged fish on your stringer and will then have there buddy waiting at your truck to give you a ticket and take your fish and whatever you used to get em be mindful you are being watched while you fish they hide a lot as well in camo
