How did you get the plastic worm shaft gear seated low enough to get the e-clip back on at 53:43? No matter how much I mess with it I cannot get it back on.

Not sure if you did this on purpose, but the tension knob is supposed to have a bearing to support the spool shaft. @11:25 you took out a bearing, but you put in a bushing @1:06:30.

@roddreel From the get go my reel has a small grind like feeling in the bottom quarter of the handle rotation which can be felt only when reeling in small jigs without any vibration. Do you have and ideas where it might come from? I've inspected the drive wheel and didn't see any imperfections, could it be the antireverse mechanism?

I want to know also. Shimano service centers in the US won’t touch them, because the Conquest BFS reels (either ‘17 or ‘23) are not sold directly in North America. So, this video is most valuable, although mine is a ‘17 also and it looks like one of the screws you have to undo for removing the housing is on the other side. I want to check the grease, but a little scary, since the included schematic and user manual are in Japanese only - I can’t find an English version anywhere.

Well if you can do it for yourself much better.I just love to open and pre service my own reels.For me no need to upgrade drags are strong and reel is smooth to cast.it can cast 1 grm perfectly.It really depends also on your line what you are using.me I’m using Japanese specs lines Oshikagi.04 and leader 4 or 8 lb 5-10mtrs. It cast well.

hi bro as technician all of my reels if it is new i will open and check how the factory grease how they put.in my experience some are well grease some are not.i removed the factory grease and put my own sticky grease that will last longer.
