Just bought a 2024 AT4 with the 3.0l diesel. So much power. My goodness. And, if you keep your foot out of the fuel rail :-), it gets crazy good fuel mileage. Just sips the diesel. Lovin' this truck!

I'm a diesel fanatic, especially German diesels. In North America, that's a lonely thing, as few diesel models have ever been sold here. It's a shame that diesel cars have been so underappreciated in NA. Honestly, a lot of vehicles, especially pickups and SUVs, make no sense to me unless they are diesel. There still seems to be a misunderstanding outside Europe that diesels are slow, dirty, etc. The array of I4, I6, V6, and V8 diesel options in Europe from VW Group, etc. makes me so jealous.

I was able to get 27.4 with the same truck but 2022.5 Mine has a 6” lift with 37s Looks amazing and drives fantastic But the around town MPG is horrible Still nothing impairs to my 2019 ZR2 Duramax 44+ mpg and it’s a mountain goat
@robedmund99486 ай бұрын
Around town driving (short trips) doesn't allow the motor to get up to temp where the efficiency lies. Let the motor warm up (especially if you have the remote start option) for 4-5 minutes, especially on colder days. You will notice a difference.

If you use the open roads program you can get diesel for .50 to .60 cheaper per gallon at truck stops, you do have to use the truck lanes.

Thank you for posting and sharing such a thorough review. I just purchased a 2024 1500 ZR2 Bison with the Duramax 3.0 LZO. Given the owners manual recommends the use of only top-tier diesel and how scarce access to such diesel is not only in my area in California, but also nationally, lam wondering what other Duramax LZO owners use to fuel their trucks.
@jmsmikey3 ай бұрын
I'm in Las Vegas & we have diesel at every Chevron. Do you have Chevron in your area? Is that top tier?
@MrJockStrap3 ай бұрын
By top-tier, it just means not red-dye or industrial grade diesel. Any diesel from a pump is fine.
@Barrett_Fodder16 күн бұрын
True on the restricted use of Ag diesel. Past that the minimum cetane level of US diesel is something like 25 points lower the EU spec. My 3.0 turbo diesel performs better with routine use of Power Service silver bottle.

The AT4X is way outside my budget...but how do the AT4 hold up with city driving (3.0 vs 5.3)? My commute is a maximum of 10 miles, but is 100% city. I do some highway driving time to time but primarily suburban USA. I currently own a 2023 Tundra (8,500 mi). I love the truck, but the premature engine failures have me concerned. Dealers aren't even accepting 22/23 trades because of the issue and toyota dealerships can't sell impacted inventory until their is a fix. I bought the extended warranty because i planned to have this 15 years but not if an engine blows!
@robedmund99486 ай бұрын
On that short a driver you will not get the diesel up to operating temps, especially in cold weather. That will affect mileage.

I think a lot of that phenomenal feel economy on the first day was your low average speed. I know I get the same fuel economy in my truck that’s a 3.5 L eco-boost no matter if I’m driving in the city or the highway. About 17 in the city and maybe 18 on the highway, but keep in mind with our highway speed limits, I’m traveling 75 to 85 miles an hour. No matter how dynamic they make these trucks they’re still a giant box. It takes a lot of energy to push them through the air.

Loves is generally where I head to. Not many around me but one that I pass weekly to commute to my girlfriends house the fuel pad is always empty so you can sneak in and get it pretty fast.
