Anyone doing this for the first time like I just did today, I highly suggest letting the company that made your tune file rewrite your ECM for you. They had me install Anydesk on my laptop, and they were able to remote install my tunes for me. The tune software is the only part of this project that had me nervous 😅 Having them install it for me took all the worry away, and they are super nice too

Did you watch my “how to tune L5P video”?
@jaydog59009 ай бұрын
@darkirondiesel yes I did, and it was extremely helpful. I would have completed it all using the video, but I was sent the wrong tuning software. They finally got the correct software for me, and since I had them on the phone, I asked them to install it for me. They did a couple extra steps I didn't see in your video. I assume it was due to hp tuners having done some updates to their own software. I really appreciate your videos, and I couldn't have done any of this without your videos.

@darkirondiesel although since I got your attention, I do have a question. Hopefully, you can answer. After my EGR delete, I have a code for fuel regulation range. I was curious if my 2017 should have that throttle body plug installed. Your video said to leave it unplugged. Any ideas where my issue is? Thanks... Update.. I plugged everything back in and have definitely narrowed my issue back to that throttle body plug you said in the video to leave unplugged. With it unplugged, I get a code of P0002, and with it plugged back in, I get a code of P0001. The P0001 says fuel volume control regulator circuit is open, and the P0002 says fuel volume regulator control circuit range/performance.. Do you have any idea if I need a can bus plug here? Thanks

Did my 2020 about 6 weeks ago... But I got my kit from a different company, but looked exactly the same(even the coolant hoses that were too short). I wish I would've had this video before then. lol. It really wasn't bad. The V-band clamps were the biggest pain in the ass under the hood.... That front canister on the exhaust was the biggest pain in the ass for the exhaust.... for me. But it was a fun job. Also, at 11:04, I just reused that hard coolant line for the coolant return from the turbo... It prevented me from having to buy more hose, and it gave it(in my opinion) a little cleaner look. Only issues, When I start the truck, I get a DEF fluid low message and have to clear it. It's only when I start it, and doesn't cause any issues other than I get the message. Also, really weird, my trailer light plugs haven't worked since I free'd my truck. Flashed stock tune back on truck just to be sure, but still no power at the plug. All fuses look good. IDK. Good video! It will definitely help a lot of people.

Kyle, Thank you for this video. Without your video this would have been much more difficult maybe even impossible for me. The written instructions I received with my kit were not very good. I am half way through the process now and the rusty seized down pipe flange bolts as well as those totally illogical 4 or 5 Chevy electrical connectors took a full day to get off. Ended up having to grind the bolts off. I did not want to cut my exhaust as much as you did (and didn't) but in the end I still had to make 2 cuts and remove the trans cross brace. Today I am going to start work on the under the hood items and your video will be key. Thanks again!!! Steve G - 2017 Chevy Silverado

Kyle,Good D.I.Y. here in Florida we do not have emission testing. BUT there have been some "Diesel shops" and after market diesel distributors getting fined by the EPA for selling parts to do DPF emission deletes and shops doing the deletes!! Example: recently, Rudy's Performance Parts and Offroad in N.C. got fined $7 mil, by the EPA!!!! So, to find a shop to do this delete could be a challenge in any U.S. state. While you are at it, I suggest to anyone doing this delete, replace the turbo inlet "pipe" w/ a BANKS inlet pipe, it's a good upgrade. For any diesel newbies out there, remember that an auto dealership will not take your diesel pickup on a trade if the exhaust emissions are deleted!

When I deleted my 2023 l5p I just cut the scr in half. Aka the one on back of turbo. I didn’t remove the turbo. Took me 5 minutes to cut the scr out. To each their own. Also for the coolant return line on turbo to coolant tank I just used the metal hose that you threw away in the beginning and added a short piece of hose to the end to connect to the turbo. Looks a little cleaner and attached to the y bridge just like oem. But your way works also but have to buy a new hose.
@lucasmancini741510 ай бұрын
Also good move using the oem fittings on the heater core lines. I used the aftermarket plastic ones that my kit came with. (Not diesel dudes kit) and I was towing and one of the heater core hoses blew off lost all my coolant in the mountains. So anyone doing this definitely reuse oem fittings.

Could those 2 coolant lines down low just be looped together?

so I see the kit has the canbus from BOD engineering, exhaust from Polar Diesel, and the DP from PPE.

Once the tune is done, how much time do I have to delete the DPF? I am doing a full delete on a 2019 GMC 6.6l Duramax. I want to make sure this can be done in one day, Instructions say DPF must be done same day as tune.

Where is the cat behind the turbo? Is it attached to the turbo or is it in the DP?

Hey. So if your L5P EGR stuff falls off and you're allergic to block off plates, what's a good aftermarket exhaust manifold and up pipe setup? If any..
@gcflower999 ай бұрын
PPE has higher performance manifolds and up pipes for Duramax.

Is there a difference in the gaskets for the oil feed and the coolant feed/return on the turbo? I can't seem to get my oil feed line to seal up.

What’s the process of deleting it without removing the egr? Just an exhaust and a tune? And does it still sound decent?
@darkirondiesel3 ай бұрын
No it doesn’t really sound much different than stock. Yes, tune it, exhaust, and can bus plugs. But only recommend running a low HP tune since you still have the exhaust filter in the downpipe.

Do you have any idea where to find that u-bolt style clamp with hanger? Finding a 5” is almost impossible, my Flo-Pro on my 6.7 only has the one hanger welded on, adding that clamp I could grab another hanger. Thanks man! Great video on the L5p, definitely a bit more work than us 6.7 guys.
