All that snow is tricky for hiking but it's great to help you guys with the drought, here's hoping you guys can get out of that drought soon, we've had alot of snow here too in Minnesota, but we need it, the Mississippi was closed for ship traffic towards August and September last year due to low water levels. Anyways, carry on, Godspeed.

Boy that's gonna be fun. I remember a big snow year, I think it may have been around 2001? 05? Anyhow it was a big snow year and I followed a guy on the trail journals who's trail name was Go BIG. I think he took the longest time in history to complete the trail in one season. That was a hell of a hike with all the snow.

Sometimes it can be a blessing for getting permits when people averse to walking on snow decide to cancel.

Ape Man! Amen for all the snow. Not only are the higher trails going to be covered in Aug but ALL the stream and river crossings will be much more dangerous. Better to cross early morning if you have to get wet.and always look for a safer way to cross...don't just follow the trail if it means you have to get wet.

Great point on the river crossings. Thanks for that great input.

I just watched a couple long-range forecasts. Looks like Cali will be in for more rain toward the end of Feb...and it will be dumping. At least that is what they think right now. That will make this hiking year...interesting? Water crossings in mid to late August may prove challenging to say the least.

We need all we can get but it will indeed make high altitude Sierra backpacking quite interesting!

I’m just to lazy to shave and it keeps me warm. When it heats up it will have to go!

Water crossing will be dangerous.

Just dropped an update snow report video. I’m sick of the rain and snow but it’s great for our water supply!

Wow when this came out a month ago I didn't think we would end up pushing 300% in the southern Sierras. Do you have any words of wisdom for us knuckleheads trying to do the JMT in early September?
@ApeMan Жыл бұрын
September will be fine other than a little snow on some of the higher passes. Have fun!
