A lot of the negative comments about looks, IMHO, are from 1. people who would never buy the car anyway (fans of Honda, VW, etc.) or 2. people that don't understand Subaru. The comments make former models of the car out to be the second coming of the Jaguar E-type or the Ferrari 250! The car has always been nerdy/geeky/frumpy looking. ALL SUBARUS look like that! Our 2019 Ascent Limited (second from top trim) has just as much plastic around the wheel arches and the entire rear bumper. No one complained. I just picked up a '23 WRX Premium to replace my deer-destroyed Audi. Love every minute of driving it! Getting back to a sedan from the SUVs I've had to drive (most of my kids are driving now) to shuttle the family around has been awesome! The car is meant to be thrown around and put through the close ratio gears. Who cares if it loses drag races by a few tenths to the competition. Drag racing is boring, and usually goes to whomever spends the most coin. Drive the car for YOU and ENJOY. The power band is completely smooth from 2k to 6k rpm, no dead spots, and minimal lag. Pros: I love the looks and the gunmetal rims on my Silica black car. Seats are comfortable and perfectly bolstered for me (tall/thin). The steering wheel has great feel and all the controls are identical to our Ascent (except the adaptive CC). HK stereo is loud and clear enough for my over 50 ears. Subaru made the climate control and heated seats more logical than the '22 (you can update the 22). The exhaust rumble is a great starting point. The six speed (I got the STi shifter as part of my purchase deal) is a little notchy into each gear, but shifts smoothly and the clutch take up is perfect. You don't need to slip the clutch at all with the torque you have, once you find the sweet spot your passengers will fell it's an automatic from a stop. Cons: The notch shifting into each gear (especially 3rd) can sound cheap and clicky occasionally. Wireless CarPlay should be standard, but I got a Noble box for $70 that works seamlessly. Subaru should offer all season performance tires for cold climate dealerships free of charge. I religiously run winter tires (NW PA snow belt), but there are transitory months Oct-Nov and March-April where it can randomly snow or the roads are cold and wet. Snow tires wear rapidly the other days those months that get to 60+. I don't mind losing 0.05 on the skid pad numbers to have a 3 season tire, the ones on the car are one-season. Also wish the adaptive dampers were available on the 6 spd. You cannot beat the price, I got mine for almost $2k under sticker, then dealt for discounts on accessories. If you go base, you can have a great road car for $30K!!!

The Sti shifter wasn’t optioned on the car before you bought it ? Negotiated it during the deal? I want to do the same thing. Car that’s coming doesn’t have one but I want it installed before I take delivery

Not a fan of the rest of the car either. But I also thought the VA version was very boring from the rear. At least Subaru tried to make it more aggressive in the rear. Unfortunately it’s just to strange looking for me.

@@carlifetv2886 whoops! That was supposed to be not a fan of the back of the car, meaning the bumper. I like everything else. Would love to see headlights a bit bigger.
