I realize I'm old but I like the analog gauges. It also makes me extremely happy that I can get a base model with 16 inch wheels ! Anything of larger diameter is purely a fashion statement that reduces durability, reduces ride comfort, reduces mpg and increase the coast of replacement tires. I would buy a Corolla hybrid for the price, reliability, reliability, reliability and mpg. I think this is the bang for the buck winner in my book!

You are 100% right about tires! 16" is the sweet spot for ride comfort and less cost for replacement!

The rear seats fold down just like all other Corolla's. There's a release button next to the head rest for each folding side. The return to "analog" style gauges was a marketing choice based on customer feedback. The old style gauge are easier to read and understand. The previous year's dashboard was a lot of eye candy but ultimately harder for most to interpret.

"Just enough to be sure you are clogging up traffic" ... That comment speaks volumes. Life on the road is a fine balance between meeting your Economic needs, while still satisfying your Social Needs to keep up with traffic and not stress-out your fellow drivers on the road. It is not acceptable to travel at the expense of others.

It's seems like toyota in the US has expanded the corrola range by offering a bargain basement version ie the one you're driving as the price for this model is so cheap so you should expect low spec gauges , in the UK they have increased the price so the base model is in excess of £ 30000 and mid spec is £35000 but you get full digital gauge clusters and lots of kit

One problem with my 2023 Corolla hybrid is the fancy headlights. In the center area directly in front of you are two shadows that stick down into the lit part. The first time I drove the car at night while turning, it literally looked like an animal running across the street directly in front of the car. I jammed on my brakes so I would not hit it. Only to realize it was a defect in the headlight array. My dealer said to me that the lights are not adjustable so just get used to it. Maybe they will fix it in the future. The real problem will be the day an actual animal is running across my path and I ignore it and hit it. This is a real safety problem with this headlight design and get used to it is not a proper response.
@CarDietrich
@CarDietrich Жыл бұрын
I know exactly what you’re talking about, that’s called a “cold spot” in headlight parlance and pretty much every new Toyota has it. I’m driving a 2023 RAV4 Hybrid right now and it has it too. Toyota is not the only automaker that has this, frankly most modern LED headlights have a cold spot, but it does seem to be more noticeable on Toyotas

@@CarDietrich Dietrich, thanks for that info. I just do not understand how they design the lights knowing the illumination is not even. My other pet peeve with this car is that the speedometer goes to 160 MPH… It is a Corolla hybrid, for crying out loud. Thought my Subi was a joke going to 140… Oh well, I guess I will do what the dealer said and just get used to the idiosyncrasies of my new car… After all, I waited half a year for it…

Great review! I loved the detail and I loved that you measured the trunk dimensions. Thank you! Small gripe with the industry: The way that SAE cargo space is measured for vehicles is very misleading because the standards are different between traditional sedans with a traditional trunk and hatchbacks, cross-overs, SUVs. A perfect example is the Corolla Hatchback on paper has much more cargo space than the sedan, but in practice - far less than the sedan.

The removed features which is why they lowered the price. 2020-2022 Corolla Hybrid LE came with 15" alloy wheels (no hub caps), had a much more attractive front bumper mesh design. There may have been other features. The 2023 Hybrid LE comes with 16" steel wheels with hub caps, no BSM, and an IMO uglier front bumper design. You can get alloy wheels, BSM, and a better looking front bumper design by paying more money. So yes, price lowered, but features were removed.
