2023 Toyota Tacoma TRD Offroad Premium

I had the option of buy a slightly used (6K mile) 23 or new 24 Tacoma TRD Off Road, double cab , Premium pkg and a 6’ bed. Ultimately I chose the 23 ONLY because of the 3.5L Naturally Aspirated (N/A) V6 engine. Historically speaking a Turbo engine simply doesn’t last as long as a N/A engine. I had a 11 Rav with the 3.5L V6 engine and it was very reliable and durable. It’s a proven engine for Toyota / Lexus. Mine has Black interior, so I reached out to Katzkin and they are working on making me Red with black trim and stitching Leather seats, both from and rear of my TRD. I’ve already sold the Black Leather to a friend who has a 23 TRD, but he has gray cloth interior and wants Black Leather. After the new Red leather seats are installed I’m having the lower sections of the external body 2 toned in Barcelona Red Metallic and have it pinstriped. Amazon has a LOT of small trim pieces in different colors, so of course I’ll be having mine done in Red. The TACOMA lettering for the tailgate will also be Red. Within a week after buying my Tacoma I installed a K&N intake and I m saving for a FlowMaster FX dual exhaust system. Also for about $500 (USA) I’ll have the Overland Tailor Tune programmed into the computer so that the torque band will kick in at 2K RPM and run up to the redline. This was also STOP the transmission from “hunting” for the right gear to go into. I’ll have mine set on Mild/ Medium for 2-4mpg gain and more power, (instead of engaging the ECT), yet if I want even more power I Can engage the ETC. It’s an awesome Tune. I know there’s a place in Victoria BC that can do it. I live in north central Washington state, USA and I’ll have to go to Idaho to have mine installed. I Love White vehicles and I LOVE red vehicles more, but my Tacoma is White. Since I drive only 5-6K miles per year, I’ll be driving my Tacoma until I die, as we usually keep our vehicles for 15-20 years, or 250-300k miles. Thanks for your video. Have a similar package but totally miss a sun roof. Got mine with the black out kit and led bed lighting looks amazing. Great truck!

I just locked down a recent allocation for a Lunar Rock DC off road 6sp manual. Mine is not optioned with all the fancy pkgs. Not my thing I like a more basic truck without all the nanny features/sunroof, etc. Good luck with your decision.

Just fyi the rear seats all three head rest actually can be place on those ends of the bottom rear seat holes after you raise them upwards I normally always drive with my back seats folded most of the time since I usually don't have more than one passenger so I can protect the rear seats from sun damage, and have extra flat storage space. Love my 2017 tacoma trd 4x4 orsb awesome trucks even though these trucks have lots of features would be nice for toyota to include some air ventilated seats options like they already offer the heated seats but also include them for the rear seats to would be pretty cool also include heated steering wheel, and front lockers too, and capability of disconnecting the front sway bar with the push of button, and allow more space for 35" tires. Come on toyota please do this for the tacoma you will not regret it

Other than for off roading, why do people purposefully choose the useless 5’ bed? We take our (my) 23 TRD Off Road double cab 6’ bed with the premium and technology pkgs off roading and it does just fine, but we also need the 6’ bed to use our Tacoma for work around our property. Here is the USA an engine block heater is Not standard, which I think it should be at least in our area of north central Washington state. We’ll definitely need it when we move to north west Montana, (1/2 an hour from Idaho and an hour from Canada in the mountains.
