I got my 2023 ORP 3 DAYS AGO! It's a friggin' beast! I've owned about 9 different trucks and SUVs. This is the best vehicle I've ever driven. It is smooth, loud when it's appropriate, not fast, COMFORTABLE, intuitive, safe and really cool looking. (Lunar Rock, baby!) I'm in the process of getting my wife one. If we were lucky enough to have 2, maintenance would be so much easier. You should buy this truck....just not a Limited with thr 3rd row, because that's what I'm scouring the earth for to buy my wife! ;-)

I have a 2004 4Runner Sport with a 4.7-liter V8. I have never had a single issue with it. I just keep the oil changed and stay up to date on scheduled maintenance. My best advice for anyone in the market for a 4Runner is to make sure to get the color and all the options that you want because you are going to be driving that vehicle every day - even 20 years from now.

This is a great review and I appreciate how knowledgeable this guy is on a Toyota’s! We just bought a 2023 Limited 4x4….with all the bells and whistles…..including a 3rd row seat! We packed 10 medium sized suitcases in the back and drove 3200 miles from Texas to the east coast . Spending over a week in our new limited really made us appreciate all the quality and build of a Toyota and I don’t regret buying it one minute! Best decision we ever made! Gas mileage was between 19-21 mpg on a full tank of 87 octane…..and once we even got 24mpg up in the mountains of a small town in Virginia. Toyota has my business for a long time….as long as they keep building the 4 runner like my 2023! The 4.0 V6 had sufficient horsepower….@270…. It made running down Interstate @80-85mph a breeze!

The dealer mark up on the1958 LC (base model ) was $10,000 now its $65,000 + truck and it barely comes with upgrades and i would be on a waiting list for whatever model came in or a long many month wait for a build. The 4Runner was $55,000 . It would have been cheaper but they hit you with a mandatory GPS system for almost $4k. I have a moonroof, 4WD, adjustable seats, roll down back window etc. and yes old school tech. They found what i wanted in 20 min and are having it shipped to Michigan.

Yeah, I think every new Toyota car have had some sort of problem, even the current Rav4 generation when it came out. Always suggested waiting for the 2nd year when they put out a new generation. If you look at the used car market, you are right about the last year of a generation usually holds its value really well because all the issues revolving around reliability have been ironed out and the tech although outdated compared to competitors, is usually a big difference compared to earlier years(better materials for interior, improved led lights, etc). 4Runners are probably the best when it comes to depreciating, even 3 year old 4 runners prior to pandemic could still be sold at msrp levels.

WOW! What an absolutely great presentation ! Much appreciated that there was absolutely NO annoying distracting complaints about infotainment systems or over engineered unnecessary safety features. Loved the intelligent assessment based solely on the quality and characteristics of the vehicle. Many, Many thanks.

I'm so glad that I found your channel, it's very informative. My 1998 4Runner SR5 in Anthracite Metallic finally bit the dust at 338,738 miles and needs a new engine. I bought it brand new in October of 1997, it has the original transmission, and I never had any major issues with it. I just ordered a 2023 4Runner SR5 in Midnight Black Metallic and hopefully I can come close to getting 25 years out of it too!

We have a 2007 4Runner. Every day my wife leaves for work I am glad that she drives that car and that it doesn't leave her stranded. We have thought about buying a more fuel efficient car, but the cost savings are clearly offset by the reliability and ruggedness of this car. So what, we spend $500 a year more (yes, first world luxury) and get to drive a car that she can rely on, even at that mileage. It is heading towards 300,000 miles, and it is still all original with the exception of tires, shocks/springs, alternator, and brake pads and rotors. And the battery. That is it.

Thanks for the great overview of the 4Runner and for all the videos you do! We're a Toyota family, so your tips are super helpful. My favorite thing about my 2019 4Runner is the huge aftermarket ecosystem that offers every imaginable accessory and enhancement. As much as I adore my truck, I love it even more with LED headlights and an Anytime camera. TIL about the lift issue. Hopefully my 1.75" Bilstein lift won't cause too much trouble. The aftermarket shocks leveled out the ride beautifully and eliminated the front-end dip when braking. Keep the great videos coming!

I have a 2016 TEP KDSS and it was hard to find even back then. It hasn’t been babied by any stretch but I do stay on top of maintenance. Not the best in terms of comfort for large families but it’s extremely reliable and I’ll find a way to hang onto this rugged beast indefinitely.

Watching your videos has helped convince me into getting my own 4runner. My family was in need of a larger vehicle and I was debating on either the 2023 Highlander hybrid, 2023 Honda Pilot, or 2023 4runner. After much thought we decided to go with the 4runner with the 3rd row upgrade. As a new owner of a 2023 4Runner Sr5 premium 4x4, I can say I have no regrets. Sure the gas mileage is very poor compared to the Highlander, and pilot, but theres something endearing about the 4 runner. The design has aged well and still looks like a modern vehicle given its age. I was drawn to the 4runner becuase of its well known reliability and durability. Even though the highlander and pilot would probably have been more suited for my family's needs, the 4Runner inspires a spirit of adventure. Will i be rock climbing with my 4runner any time soon? Most likely not. But, I do plan to go off the beaten path on a few camping trips and even drive up to Big Bear without feeling deterred from the slight incliment weather. I look forward to the many adventures and memories my family will share with our new 4Runner.

I have a 3row 4Runner, it’s convenient but there’s not much room in the back and when you put the 3rd row up. There is no room in the cargo area. I would get a Sienna if your looking for 3 row seating, even more room than the Grand-highlander. I don’t use my 3row in my 4Runner cause it’s not worth the lost of cargo space for my stroller.

Great choice!!! My wife and I was debating between the 2023 Pilot and 4runner, we decided to get the same one 2023 SR5 Premium 4x4 with 3rd row. And we love it!!! Gas millage is bad but in the trade off of capability and reliability we’re ok with that. For same price point we can get a Huyndai or Kia with much more feature and tech but “less is more” in this case we love how simple it is 😂

You made the right choice my friend. I went from a Tacoma 2wd trd sport to a 4Runner Trail edition. And it’s super fun. 2nd day after buying it I went straight to the tire shop to get bigger tires. Did a 1.5” front lift. It’s almost unstoppable. Extremely capable.

Bought that exact truck after being on a list for a grey TRD Pro for almost 8mo. As soon as I saw there was a year extension on the 5th Gen, and the ‘special’ color on the pro was Solar Octane, it was a ‘must have’. ZERO regrets. It’s replacing a tricked out 2nd Gen I had to give up a decade ago when kids and dogs and stuff forced us into something bigger. It definitely feels like a vehicle from another generation, but in all the best ways possible. You did sortof gloss over a number of differences that set the TRD Pro and TRD Off Road Premiums apart: KDSS option (OR Premium), ATRACS, crawl control, terrain select, etc.). Off the showroom floor, they are so darn capable.

I know it will last me at least 15 solid years with few, if any, issues other than normal wear and tear. Apparently many others feel the same because it seems EVERYONE on the road has a 4 Runner now days. Not sure if that is good or bad.
