Thanks for this video Tony. I’ve owned the RP for almost a year now, as well as my 2016 Street Twin. It’s a cracking bike for touring and adventure. I’ve taken it camping twice now and it handles what I’ve thrown at it beautifully. I especially like the wind protection (which works well for at least for my build). Planning to change out the tyres to something a little more dirt capable once the Battlaxes are done. I did get the navigation working but I have to say it’s not the greatest. Generally, I’m finding using my phone’s maps on a Quadlock mount to be a lot better.

@@mancavemoto I have had mine for just over a year. I changed tires to TKC 70 front and TKC70 Rocks at the back. Work great on gravel roads and on tarmac. I tour 3 times long distances so far, twice to the Alps. Perfect motorcycle for this kind of use. I was thinking what would I replace it with, and I realised there is nothing out there I would like more at the moment. Maybe when Yamaha will introduce Tenere 900?

Anti-vibration bar mounts like Rox Elite would probably fix it, and/or filling the bars with insulation foam. Heavier bar end weights too possibly? Also it could well just be general harmonic resonance rather than crank derived vibration and sometimes removing the CAT gets rid of that, even the engine protection bars or a badly designed bash plate can be the cause. I would take one off of these items off at at a time to find out if it were mine. I know how it gets to you, strangely nowadays my 2021 KTM 690 vibrates less than many contemporary twins or multis at 80 mph, the higher the speed the smoother it gets. Goes through a rough patch at 60 mph in which you cant see the mirrors then smooths out from 70 mph upwards.

Seriously interested in getting one of these later this year so appreciate the depth of explanation Tony. As I will be doing some long tours through Europe, that resonating issue at higher speed does concern me 🤔. Budget wise, I’m happy to spend around 15k so it’s either this or maybe a 2nd hand GS1250 although I’d prefer the lower weight and nimbleness of the Tiger…… food for thought for sure.
@mancavemoto

Glad it was helpful! It was a difficult balance of mentioning it without over egging the issue. It's there I may notice it more than others so just trying to feedback as openly as i can
@Mowser63

You aren’t the only one whose raised the issue. As I envisage doing several thousand miles in one hit away from home, factors like comfort and vibration are issues though so the candid reviews are important. I have no doubt how good the Tigers are, but smoothness will be important to me. Thanks again

I’ve noticed on my GT Pro that the vibes have decreased considerably once a few miles are on it ( I’ve done 15k on mine now) also I fitted a pair of bar ends and now I hardly notice vibes at all. So much better than my old BMW s1000r which was a vibe magnet !

Nice review Tony. I HAVE to agree with you on the display arrangement on the TFT. It's NOT great at all. Lots of wasted space taken up by a fairly useless rev counter (which still isn't very informative) BMW do it MUCH better. (Keep it simple) The bike itself looks very nice indeed and I would love one. All mod cons that you need (heated grips, seat etc) but the Triumph app needs doing away with. I've never seen a review where it worked properly. Either put in Apple Carplay, Android Auto or do away with it. Honda have both on the TransAlp. It's a great all rounder for someone who uses their bike every day and wants to tour on it too. Now if only Triumph would fix that display...

This is a fantastic motorcycle. I own the Tiger 850 Sport and have just added the Tiger 900 Rally pro to my collection. The worst part of the bike is the dash. I can't believe that Triumph would design something that has options for screen style, yet not one of them is good. Its as if they wanted to fill the screen with clutter, the way they show the rpms. It's also irritating that the odometer doesn't appear on any of the screens. Triumph should have just made it a design similar to BMW. I hope that they will offer some type of software upgrade in the future, so that the screen options can be changed to something better...
@peterrick3339
@peterrick3339 6 ай бұрын
The screen is hideous imo. Who ever designed it & approved it, both should be fired. I am not a fan of triples but this bike with the new crank configuration is tempting. But the screen image is a deal breaker for me. Triumph should take a look at what BMW do with their TFT screen layout for inspiration of what can be done, and should be done.

Nice video Tony, very well presented... I've had the Rally Pro for a few years now and have noticed the vibes, but they've never put me off. I was a bit weary of them before purchasing the bike, as I used to get them on the Tiger 800. I just put the issue down to me... I'd probably receive vibrations on an electrical bike too, to be honest. 🤣

Good review Tony have had my tiger rally pro 900 for a year now clock up 10000 miles on it now, just changed my Bridgestone a41 for the new Bridgestone at41 great tyres in the dry or wet. Went to the triumph factory a couple of days ago and it pissed down on the motorway great grip. Also had no reel problem with the vibration at high speed!!! Very comprehensive. Great bike, but at 14g should be. Servicing costs would be good to know, it's getting to be a big cost. I know service intervals are long on this bike ( too long ?) but I would imagine it's probably once a year for most people. So hp/pcp payment plus a big service. I wonder if Triumph do a service plan like dome cars? Good one. Safe, happy travels 👍

Maybe drop us a quick line on how it stacks up against it's main competitors in the Desert X, Africa Twin and the F850 GS?
@mancavemoto

Good question. Desert x has more off-road bias, but feels lighter, nimble and more fun to ride tbh. Africa Twin is bigger and heavier, but looks nicer personally I think is a nicer ride, but I will admit to being an Africa twin fan. The GS850 is getting a bit long in the tooth now, but is still a very good machine, feels more utilitarian and dare I say it agricultural compared to the Tiger

I really like these but having watched your vid and seeing corrosion on fasteners it puts me off. Maybe it's just an abused press bike but even so at 14.5k It's not good. Still it looks good and has that triple sound track.
