The Derby is the most difficult 12 F race in the world. The ascent, curve,descent, camber and turf conditions make it the ultimate test of balance and stamina for a horse.

Great race to watch, Auguste Rodin ran a brilliant race as did the second King of Steel ridden by Stott who almost took the race due to his excellent jockeying but it’s hard to fault Ryan Moore’s impeccable timing . There could be a lot of serious horses bred from those blood lines 👍

The rest of the field look like 10 furlong horses. Not DERBY standard. But Auguste Rodin was brilliant! And you're absolutely right! Fantastic second place!

Aidan O'Brien was bullish to the press that Auguste Rodin had a number of factors go against him at Newmarket that were beyond his control and called the Guineas a non-event for the son of Deep Impact. O'Brien kept insisting his Epsom preparation had been nearly perfect and promised fans and pundits alike would see a different horse in the Epsom Derby going up in trip to 12F. And so it goes, the "Irish horse whisperer" strikes again. I don't care how powerful your breeding/racing operation is, you don't win the Derby 9 times without knowing how to correctly prepare a 3YO thoroughbred for it. I thought Auguste Rodin was brilliant in this race, and I thought Godolphin's Military Order was a without a doubt the biggest disappointment.

A.O'B., does one thing wrong. He trains too many horses, approx. 180-200 horses per year. He ran a horse at Dundalk one year, that had 000 in its form. When Aidan can't get a horse to be placed (Ireland is 9to1 in form. England is 6to1), even a 9th place. Then he shouldn't be wasting his time and energy trained horses like that.

Deep impact colt ,looks identical to sunday silence in looks and stride pattern. Hope hes not retired after the Irish derby . Collectors item for sure

It is not the ENGLISH DERBY ( title )it is the EPSOM DERBY it was the first derby ever to be run , all the other derby’s are following the Epsom one,nobody in British horse racing ever calls it the English derby….
