@@apharoah12 you should interview the other groom that was supposed to come With the horse the real one but stayed at gulfstream park So they sent Moises instead and it’s getting all the credit instead of sharing it with his coworker and who was taking care of the horse back at gulfstream Rene reyes is his name that would be an interesting story to a person who also deserves credit.

I have never seen a race of horses before. quite fascinating. Thank you for posting this extrordinary sporting even combining the athletic ability of the equine species, and the guidance of the little tiny jockeys. I recall watching the FLINTSTONES as a youth in Bulgaria, and the jockeys were little monkeys.

I've never been to the races, let alone the Derby, but loyally watch the Derby on TV each year. Great to re-live my 1st Derby live .. ever! From Raleigh, North Carolina. PICKED “MAGE” from right after his 2nd in the Florida Derby to Forte! NO CONTEST! 🎉 . My Son listened to me for the 1st time in his life🤣 and had $100 on MAGE to,WIN! Sat near great folks from Chicago, from LA, and Ohio. None had MAGE despite my urging. Skipping Derby 150 BUT will be back for #151 … health permitting. GOOD LUCK TO ALL.

Genial la carrera de Mage y la conduccion de Javier Castellanos de lo mejor partio de decimo sexto y Javier lo fue colocando hacia afuera para estar libre de tropiezos y en la curva remato efectivamente para ganar , la preparacion de Gustavo Delgado impecable igual para JJ Delgado el cual lo galopa y fue buen jinete en La Rinconada. @@apharoah12 Yes you should. First ran in 1780. My favorite meeting in England. Personally, I'm not a great fan of jump racing but I love watching the best of the best Flat horses compete against each other all over the world. Great fan of American racing. Read a lot of books, Andy Beyer, steven Crist, William l Scott, and many others.

My work schedule is such that I can't see any races, so I've kind of lost interest. I did check out the field yesterday, and picked Mage just on his name. I appreciate your emphasis on watching the horses. I prefer that to the constant focus on the owners, etc on the network coverage. However I thought I saw a horse rearing in the paddock during the broadcast and missed it here. Does anyone know which one (or timestamp if it was recorded here)? I saw an article that claimed part of the injury issue was the massive increase in people surrounding the horses and I believe they have a point watching this. The walk to the paddock and saddling has something like 5 to 10 times the people that used to be allowed pre-race.

If a horse reared I never saw it. Must’ve happened out of my view. The amount of people in the paddock here was no different than any other Derby, and the new temporary paddock has a whole lot more space for them to spread out than all the previous paddocks

I think Kingsbarns had everything he wanted in a trip but just ran out of steam. He was at or just off the lead most of the race.

Went too fast at the beginning for him to hold on. Bad move by the jockey, he doesn't need to be close to the lead. When pace went the way it did he should've pulled back and tried to get the trip Epicenter had last year.

The video footage is excellent. When the horses first started to arrive, I observed that the top 3 finishers were the only ones who had not lathered up on their hind legs. In other words, keep an eye on them! I didn't think Mage would win since I believed you had to run as a two-year candidate, but that's no longer an option.

Lucky horse. The Favorite has a heel problem. Gets withdrawal. Opens the race to Longshots. The Second Favorite is overrated. Ran from back wouldn't get to the top 8 . I had the second place horse as my pick for months. He will get his place in the sun soon.. This horse will have to run in Grade 1 races for the rest of it's career. It will lose every race. Because, he now has a target on it. Be forced to run against older horses in the Fall . To prove he's not a fluke. Does the name Rich Strike come to mind. He still hasn't proven to be any other than a KD winner.
