2023 Vinfast VF7 EV - This Could be the REAL Sweet Spot

At CES 2023 Las Vegas this year, Vietnamese EV Automaker Vinfast revealed two brand new electric SUVs to their all-electric line-up. Both VF6 and VF7 will fill in nicely under the already in production Vinfast VF8 and VF9.
The VF 6 and VF 7 have stylish, sophisticated designs, crafted by VinFast and world-famous car designer, Torino Design. Both models will be available with Eco and Plus versions.
The VF 6 is an all-electric vehicle positioned in the small crossover segment, with a maximum range on a full charge of 248 miles (WLTP target) for the Eco version, 174 horsepower and 184 lb-ft torque. The Plus version has a maximum range on a full charge of 237 miles (WLTP target), 201 horsepower and 228 lb-ft torque. In-car entertainment applications will be displayed on a 12.9-inch touch screen.
The VF 7 is slightly larger than the VF 6 and has a maximum range on a full charge of 280 miles (WLTP target) for the Eco version, with power checking in at 201 horsepower at 228 lb-ft of torque. The Plus version with its standard 2-motor AWD system has a maximum range of 268 miles (WLTP target) and provides a peppy 348 horsepower with 368 lb-ft of torque. The VF 7 Eco will also be equipped with a 12.9-inch touch screen while the Plus will increase to 15.0 inches.
Both models will be equipped with level 2 ADAS features for all Eco and Plus versions and modern technology features such as virtual assistant, mobile application - C-app, etc. creating an exhilarating experience for every journey.

Very attractive looking vehicles. Would definitely consider one, especially if the price is right. But would personally wait till version 2 or 3, when they've worked out all the bugs.

Vinfat in Vietnam is building 2 factories to make batteries. So buying this car is very secure. a car company built a factory in 2017 and has launched more than 10 models to the market. so they did a great job 3//

VF7 is loooooks so good!, the exterior and inside of VF cars look so classy, love the designs and maybe the subscritions are a really good alternative to battery stress on years of owning one and they the have warranty all battery life.

Yeah but I don't know why the range is soo below what was announced even after the software update (around 333 km) for vf8. Those numbers don't fit with the price they asked and the the competition.

We would have to wait to see about their EPA, current VF8 EPA is only 180 miles, which is much lower than advertised.

I wished their EPA mileaage was at least in the 350's to 400's . My brand new Tesla Model 3 with EPA of 264, I am only getting around 175 miles to a full charge. I can only imagine what it is with the Vinfast.

@@EverydayReviews2022 California. It has been around 50 degrees as of late. I have only put 275 miles on it thus far, since driving it home from Dublin Ca , so far had to charge it 3 times already. Twice at 80% supercharger and once at 100% at home. The battery is at 70% right now. Picked it up on 12/31/22.

Vinfast needs a halo car to get my attention. A bunch of unimaginative SUVs won't cut it. If I'm going to take a risk with an completely unknown EV, it will probably be the Lotus Eletre because none of these EV SUVs are inexpensive, so I may as well get the one that makes the biggest splash.

As an Ioniq5 owner myself I totally get what you’re saying and look forward to get into a production unit of this car. Where it gets interesting though is as good as the I5 is, the waitlist for a top trim AWD is somewhere around 3 years now so no matter how good it is means nothing. With Vinfast opening their own battery production now, they may be able to produce enough to satisfy everyone’s insatiable appetite for EVs.

Thank you for your response. VinFast Canada doesn't provide MSRP for the VF8 Plus AWD, let's say it is $7k more than the VF8 Eco FWD base at $64,990 considering the second motor, features, etc. Ignoring taxes for simple math, VF8 AWD costs $14k more than Hyundai Ioniq 5 AWD Preferred Long Range at $57,650. The $14k will more than cover gas, repair, etc. Of my current car by a long shot while I wait 3 years to get my Ioniq 5.

Have you seen VinFast Canada website, MSRP on full size SUV, VF9 Eco starts at $103,790 battery inclusive, with AWD and options probably somewhere around $130-$140k. Do they even know the profile of a consumer who buys and can afford a $140k car! With the exception of a few novelty seekers, it is not just about a good product (I am sure VF9 is) but stature. They want to be seen in Mercedes Benz, BMW, Audi, etc. Companies with 100s of years invested in thier brand equity, VinFast is 3 years old, sorry no short cuts. For those who point to Tesla, please pick up a book on business strategy and read about first mover advantage, that ship has sailed.

VF was running its mouth about a battery range of 280, 290 until EPA tested and said its actually 179-mile range. In VF is a small company of VinGroup which funded and protected by the Communist Vietnamese government. VG is not an automobile company nor any tech company at all besides real estate. VG came out with VinPhone and bankrupted, then VF was born and came out with gasoline car roughly 3 years ago then they bankrupted also. In Vietnam, if customers complain about Vinfast cars, then the law enforcement will be called and harassed the customers.
