The lure of high-priced luxury dual-cab 4x4 utes is ongoing for Australian new-car buyers. But rather than just add some nice trimmings and chuck a sailplane on its turbo-diesel flagship, Volkswagen has taken the concept a step further.
Look under the bonnet of the 2023 Volkswagen Amarok Aventura TSI452 4MOTION (phew!) and you’ll see the same 2.3-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine as used by the Ford Mustang muscle car.
No other leading brand has opted to go outside the diesel mainstream for its ute model range. VW reckons it will have real appeal among buyers making the swap from passenger cars to utes. Successful strategy or not, it’s definitely an interesting drive.

Current Amarok & Mazda BT 50 look car-ish which i dont feel bakkies should look like.,i love bold lookn ones e.g Ford Ranger,isuzu D-max,Toyota Hilux & 2024 Mitsubishi Triton.

Not worth the 94 thousand just advertised today on my feed. 60 grand plus is already pushing it for a new ute as it is. No usb ports at the back? really? All cars from 2023 onwards should be usb c only at least 2 in the front and 2 in the back.
