The Ranger is made in Thailand…..the Amarok is made in South Africa 😬 The Amarok has the indicator switch on the LHS of the steering wheel 🤯 I love my V6 Ranger Sport 👍👍

The VW factory in South Africa tends to be quite good. The world's best car factory is there as well, the Mercedes-Benz one.

Please be smart when comparing to the ranger. In terms of price the Amarok Style with premium leather is almost the same price as the Ranger Wildtrak with the premium package. Other reviewers seem to compare the Style with the Sport which doesn't seem right as the Ranger Sport is about 3K cheaper. The Wildtrak is basically the same price as the Style.

Exactly right. Spec for spec Style is closer to Wildtrak and interior is better. Doesn’t have the tray roller though

The Amarok in my view is way over priced…..not to mention the indicator switch is on the LHS. That would do my head in 🤯

@@meneeringenieur1866 He had Jeep before that there must have been problems. I have a Ford Falcon FG G6E it was an Avis car before I bought it. Traded in a BA Fairmont. The Fairmont was a nice car but designed in a hurry with issues. The FG has been very good. I cannot comment on the Ranger as never had one. I am sure if there were any issues he would tell me. Seems very happy drives it everywhere.

Get over badge engineering. GM started it in 1931, few ever complained. Think of the many Opels branded as Vauxhall, Chev or even Holden and, oh, Daewoo.

All I know is Toyota does not have to worry about loosing sales to the Ford Amarok or the Ford Ranger. The Hilux will sell three times the number of units when compared to the twins. The Ford Ranger is the most un-reliable Ute/Bakkie in Australia & South Africa. All a potential buyer who is looking to purchase a Ford Ranger needs to do is do a Google search and find out for themselves the horrendous issues that Ford owners are going through with electronics, oil leaks etc., I'm happy I spent my money on a 2023 Toyota Hilux GR-S!!

Im sorry, you came across very ford biased. You completely downplayed the terrible screen in the ranger and how bad the seats are. And kept harping on about VW tax, but fail to mention you would pay similar money but be stuck with a ford...

Like usual, I enjoyed your review. I'm in the market for a new dual cab and test drove a few models of the new Amarok 2 weeks ago. Agree with most of your comments on Style model interior (hate the faux brown wood bits), loved the seats, dash, wheel etc. No issues on trim fit on the car I drove .. and I was looking. Heavy steering? Seriously disagree. I found it light, weighted better than Ranger Wildtrack and better feel because of it. And I just didn’t get the “too stiff” dampers either. Well not on the Style anyway … but the Aventura definitely felt jittery from the rear with those 21’s. Price? Wildtrak actually matches better spec/spec with Style although does have electric tray roller cover which is (shudder!) $4700 option on Amarok. What to order?

Yes. However it is extraordinarily expensive. The Aventura costs more than 90K Euro. The wildtrak X is 43k- euro. The Ranger raptor is 71k. You would have to be complete idiot to buy a VW Amarok. And... the ford is a hybrid.

Maybe it's not for tradies so much as for the family guy who probably likes to have a good spin - with out a tub full of tools. More of a family or supervisors vehicle or a guy with a property like me! I drove one and absolutely love it.
