Tips from a Pro GLI Owner. Number 1. Use Custom mode, set everything to sport, except engine sound. This gives you sport mode without the fake sounds. You can also adjust suspension to comfort, if you want to feel less road. Number 2. Use custom mode for spirited driving, always have it on S mode. But before you come to complete stops, go back to D, the auto downshift from 2nd to 1st is janky. Number 3. If you really want to do pulls, hold the traction control button for 3-5 secs, puts it in sport ESC. Computer doesn’t hold back any power this way. Number 4. USE YOUR PADDLESHIFTERS. Coasting in 2nd gives you on demand power. The paddle shift are instant, zero delays. Whenever I need to pass on a 60 roll I just drop 2-3 gears and I’m gone. Number 5. Utilize your stock wheels until it’s time to replace, they’re horrible but might as well not waste them. Get higher quality sticky tires. Number 6. All you need is a new intake and tune, now you basically have another 100hp. This car is a fuckin sleeper, the types of cars I’ve been able to gap when it was stock surprised tf out of me.

It has a nicer trim than stock jettas but the seats on mine weren’t the best. They looked cool tho. Make sure you get a higher trim for the comfortable seats and sunroof I wish I had found one like that

For better 0 - 60 times you have to turn the traction control off. If you turned it off I didn’t hear you mention that you did.

Basically the 0-60 same time as the regular jetta with 1.5T here, wheel spin killing it?
@DMCarReviews Жыл бұрын
The 1.5T will be in the high 7s. Without wheelspin the GLI would be in the high 6s.

@@DMCarReviews saw u got 7.29 in the 1.5T, obviously conditions etc, does this feel like alot quicker tho? From a roll im assuming?
@DMCarReviews Жыл бұрын
@@Sam-tx7leYes! The 7.29s was off a slightly negative slope, in much better weather. Yes, this is definitely quicker off a roll than the 1.5T. The 1.5T was plenty in my opinion.

Those shifts sound nice! I bought a 2023 Honda Civic thinking I would learn to like the CVT transmission. I told myself that having Honda reliability would make it worth it. 40K miles later and not a single problem, but I've hated every minute that I've been driving it. 😵💫 Mistaaaaaaaake! (in opera singer voice) How's the reliability been with your car? 🤔
@backtoshallabal6662 Жыл бұрын
in terms of luxury and performance does this keep up with a 2023 330i with the M sport package?
@DMCarReviews Жыл бұрын
The 330i is faster (stock on stock) and much more luxurious. If you want a luxurious, powerful car, with excellent handling and AWD, get the 330i. The M340i is even better, if you have the means to buy it. If you want a modable platform with lots of tuning potential and a much cheaper price tag, the GLI is the better option.

The zero to 60 time. Not super inspiring. Maybe you have a lame gli. Thanks for your Insight and honest video. Btw hard pause on that aspiring for a GLI.
@DMCarReviews Жыл бұрын
I don't understand what a lame GLI is in your opinion. It's virtually a new car in excellent working condition. I'm sure its hard to hit 6.5 seconds on a fwd car with conditions that are not ideal. It's plenty fast.
@rvbsoundfactory Жыл бұрын
@@DMCarReviews 6.5 seconds to 60 mph now thinking about it more clearly that's fast. You're right I wasn't taken into considerations of whether, tires, and road surfaces. Guess I'm watching too many car videos Cars doing 5 seconds from 0 to 60 s*** like that. I hope VW will continue refining and making the GLI with a manual transmission. Not the girly DSG one. And get that 0 to 60 down to 5.5 that's what I'm talking about. That being said I'm going to go and check out the BMWs videos that got some 5.5s .😀👍🏼
@DMCarReviews Жыл бұрын
@@rvbsoundfactory Usually, AWD solves the grip issue and makes for a better 0-60 time. Although, 0-60 isn't everything. Just one of the minor parameters. I drove a 9.5s Outback, and had plenty of power for all my needs. I much more care about how quickly the car gets from 40-70, rather than a 0-60 itself.

Car and Driver claims 0-60 in 6.1 with the manual. Mid 5's with the auto.

Great work! Mechanically this is identical to an MK7.5 GTI. Bolt-on parts and tuning options are abundant and it's quite proven and inexpensive to mod. VW-Audi aftermarket is an industry on its own really at this point. With a Stage 2 build and a good set of tires, this car would surprise a lot of fast cars on a roll (3300 lbs car which is light by today's standards, FWD with DCT so minimal drivetrain loss)
