This is a super solid cash-back setup! And having a couple luxury travel cards is nice to be able to make your points go a bit further when it makes sense for you. I didn’t realize this at first but apparently the Amazon category in Q2 on the CFF applies to Whole Foods as well, so you can get 5% back in UR points this quarter if you do any of your grocery shopping there (which I do).

I just got a Sapphire Reserve, so a lot of spend is going to the 70k UR SUB for the entirety of Q2 (3 month hits on June 29th). For Gas it’ll be my Wells Autograph or my Apple Card if I can only find a Mobil/Exxon. Grocery will be the SavorOne or the CSR; depends how I’m feeling about the SUB.

On the BCP Since there’s a 95 annual fee wouldn’t you need to lose your benefit because you get capped for all your 6%. So the AAA and Custom Cash is better

On the Custom Cash yes there are people who put all their spend on it. Look at the *debit; something that has no purchase protection laws, bad idea for a deposit,* same as cash) and how many use that plus little, if any cash back. Also just came across something that valued one of the data brokers sold gas station transactions for twenty cents and that was resell value. Additionally Predict and Surveil Data, Discretion, and the Future of Policing (fairly short) book by Sarah Brayne if I recall correctly hearing / reading when she was at Microsoft research data ends up at eight hundred places in twenty four hours so that *data value is of eminence cash value* as the card issuer can sell the same data lots of times over. Don't entirely get why the Verizon credit card doesn't have cell phone protection insurance but I guess that would be an accounting difference that their stores and franchises would not get as a add on sale.

I do see it being used as a daily. I have the BCE and was thinking of getting a card for miscellaneous purchases outside of gas or grocery. Honestly, it would have been too much of a hassle. If you're the type that grocery shops only once a week or maybe every other week, having a separate card for that, while maintain a daily like the custom cash for gas and sundry makes sense.

My Q2 game plan: Bilt: Rent, dining until I hit the monthly quota, and Rent Day purchases (will be doing some shopping tomorrow) CSP: Streaming services, travel purchases, and dining after meeting the Bilt quota CFF: Amazon and gas (I don’t have Lowe’s near me, so this would be a sock drawer card if not for the 5x gas SUB) U.S. Bank Cash+: Internet service and utility payments (getting it done from the sock drawer) CFU: Everything else including the 5x grocery SUB

I'm a bit sad about my Freedom Flex 5% on gas ending this month. I recently got approved for an Amex Platinum and I'll work towards its bonus (125K), but it's still a shame to lose that perk. I hope it comes back for the third or 4th quarter, though!

For times when I'm not trying to complete sign up bonuses, I use the bank of america unlimited rewards (2.625% all categories for platinum honors) for the catch all, bilt for rent, citi custom cash for non-walmart grocery, and us bank cash+ for utilities. I'm a low spender (less than $2000 per month), but I get about $1500-$2000 back each year from bonuses + cash back. I'm working on the alaska airlines card right now. I only do these big bonus ones about once a year, and one no annual fee ones which get incorporated into my credit card system. Edit: I also use the AMEX blue everyday cash (gas, online shopping) and Chase freedom flex for rotating categories. I'm thinking about getting the AAA one with the 5% grocery later this year to free up the custom cash for gas or online shopping, or the Bank of America customized cash (5.25%) for online shopping or for the 1-2 times a year of roundtrip air tickets. After that, probably will get the Bank of America travel reward for no foreign transaction fee no-annual-fee card for international travel (2.625% everything)

Well you get 10 cents off per gallon at all Exxon Mobil gas stations with Walmart plus too, which is another benefit to the Amex platinum card I guess lol

Being far into Chase ecosystem, I always feel like I'm missing out on groceries and gas. I like the BCP but I also buy about half our gas at Costco, which requires a Visa. Really debating between BCP and that AAA Daily card. 🤔

It would be interesting to see a video comparing different 2% cash back cards (and point/miles rough equivalents), as these cards aren't all created equal despite seeming so on the surface, for example why did you choose Double Cash over Venture X when they both have 2x back for your catch all spend? Why might someone else want to make a different choice? I realize this can be a rabbit hole, but I think that can be part of the fun.

I guess chase has the 5% at Amazon on the FF bc not everyone has the Amazon credit card, but for people who have both it's kind of a bummer in my opinion that they don't change it up. And with the FF you don't have to be a prime member to get 5% I don't think.

Agree on the custom cash but you would be surprised by how different places will ring up category wise which does mess with the 5% and offset for Citi. I usually use it for restaurants and every here and there I find out places I've been that you would think would be considered a restaurant code is something else (example: grocery)

​@@ProudMoney Yeah I visited a particular restaurant on 2 different occasions and when I used my CSP it coded as restaurants and I got 3x. However, the 2nd visit I used my Amex Gold and for some weird reason it coded incorrectly and I got 1x instead of 4x.

Honestly, i tried the curve card out too but it's rather poorly executed at the moment. I just closed my account for it as i doubt it'll ever be more worthwhile than just swapping my cards around in my wallet. And ive got one of those quickdraw wallets, so I'm always prepared lol
