I have a 2016, grey with fluo wheels i totally love it. Yamaha haven't created a game changer, but they're leading the way with the japanese nakeds. Unless you're willing to pay top Italian money, then this is the naked to buy in my opinion.

I bought one and love it. It's comfy for an hour, then my butt starts hurting. Lol I'm getting the Yamaha comfort seat in a month. They're back ordered right now. I love the sound of that engine and the quick shifter works so good. It puts a smile on my face and soul.

That was an excellent review, right to the point and covering all the important info. Really answered all the questions I had. Thank you. Also very glad you made it back home safe from the TT. It’s always extreme but this year seemed to be just that much more intense. Anyway stay safe, and as always looking forward to your next video. Cheers

just tell me there's a headlight mod for that horrendous looking headlight. How could they ruin the beastly look with such twinkly grasshopper eyeballs. I mean, it's horrendous. It completely kills the masculine look it has. It truly hurts me, because I really want this bike.

Other than the fuel mileage, which is dismal, I think this is the best street / sport bike available today. Just a brilliant well built motorcycle. On my '22 I miss the incredible sound quality that the previous generation produced, but it still sounds pretty good. I think the electronics and the improved styling are worth the loss of sound quality. The fake air intakes on the older version really put me off.

They've supposedly improved the previous gas-guzzling tendency. How much? I've not really heard any real world numbers yet. And beings most people who own these machines rag on them and can't stop their right wrist from whacking the throttle on/off every 3 seconds, and can't stop their left foot from shifting 39 times in the first quarter mile up and down, it's really hard to say what kind of sensible mileage they would get. Previously it's been 28-32 mpg most of the time. I hope that's gone up to at least 37-40 mpg. I mean, KTM's big honkin' 1301cc Vtwin was getting 40 mpg+.

$23,650 in Australia, or $27,350 for the SP. I think I’d go for the SP if I was in the market for a MT10. I love all the electronics the new bikes have, especially a well sorted quickshifter. I’ve owned 2 Yamahas in the past and they’ve been bulletproof. If I wanted a sporty bike to go with my Z900RS I reckon the MT10SP would be it.

Europe prices are steeper, but still compared to the other brands this is the best bang for the buck. I think Yamaha is making quite a difference with their sale strategy. Aside from that i am using an MT10 2016 for a year now cant wait to upgrade to the latest, it's addictive.

Used examples, at least near me, are reasonably cheap and you're getting essentially the same bike without the 6 axis IMU. I found a perfect bone stock blue '18 with 1kmi for $9800 late last summer. Spend another $600 for a decat link pipe and "tune" and you have a bike that runs SO much better than stock! No better bargain on 2 wheels imo.

Actually MT means Master of Torque What i don't like is the fuel gauge. There is only 1 bar between full tank and half tank. Cmon Yamaha, you could have done better.

10:40 except for the turn indicator lights. You just brush up against them with your leg much less bump one while you’re throwing a leg over and it’ll break off so easy you won’t even realize it happened.

I quite like the looks of the MT10 except for that headlight arrangement. Speed limiter on a beast like this is a great idea in principle, how did it go in practice? Overall this style of bike is not really on my radar, way more electronics than I’d ever need but if I was in the market I reckon I’d fork out the extra cash for a Tuono or even a Speed Triple. Still would love to take one for a test ride. Great review Rennie, thanks for posting.

At 64 kg, the '16 MT10 was firm as anything below hooligan speed and annoyed me no end trying to have a relaxing ride (speed limit). If this is firmer, it's definitely a no-go bike. The Tuono V4 (Sachs) seems to have suspension that does fast and slow equally well... (For me, on New Zealand roads...)

I have always loved this bikes motor, chassis, and electronics but never it’s looks. Such a bummer as I’d buy it if it looked like a motorcycle and not a transformer. Yamaha where is the XSR1000? I dig the styling of the XSR 900 and wish this bike would be given the same treatment.

The GSXS1000 feels like a somewhat better value and Yamaha really needs to use this platform in a fully faired sport touring model to compete with Kawasaki and Suzuki offerings.
@cyclenews2 жыл бұрын
That would be a great comparison
@888jackflash2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. I would buy one of these in a minute.. but it's purely a DAY TRIPPER. No wind protection or even the slightest carrying capacity. Try taking this out for a three-day ride on the American interstates and see how tiny it would feel, getting blown around by 18-wheelers.
@exothermal.sprocket Жыл бұрын
What more could you want? Start with a decent TFT. Yamaha needs to take lessons from Suzuki, like their GSX-S1000GT display.. it's not 'negative' (black background and gray numerals), it shows up in daylight, it actually has enough size to read it, and the font is clear. If you're going to go away from a nice big analogue tach and a big bright LCD that was easily legible and instantly informative and easily read in all conditions day/night, then DO SOMETHING BETTER.

Sadly it still has an extremely choppy throttle - the worst I’ve experienced on any new bike in the last 5 years. It makes it very challenging to ride at town speeds, to the point where slipping the clutch is the most realistic option.
@cyclenews2 жыл бұрын
Interesting note.
@leanit57562 жыл бұрын
True. I had a '19 and now the '22 and they are the same in this. However with the '22 in mode 3, I don't think it is too bad. But Modes 1 and 2 are pretty much a joke for the first few mm of throttle tube rotation. With electronic throttle mapping, I don't get why they didn't just make the first few mm of throttle rotation the same (or even less sensitive) as Mode 3, and then transition into the more aggressive programming of Modes 1 and 2 for Modes 1 and 2.

Great bike but IT'S UGLY. The "face" is horrid, and so is the Plumbing. PS- there is ZERO internal storage, not even for a toolkit, (which they don't even provide). This is a bike that desperately needs a "GT" version.
