The KTM is everything you say, but the suspension is much easier to fix than just going to the cone valves. My 890R works amazingly better (less initial harshness and way better bottoming resistance) after a revalve.

All you have to do is see a Transalp in a showroom to know it’s not a serious off road bike. It literally looks like a street bike. It’s a Honda, so I’m sure it’s great. But it isn’t that great, mid-sized off road adv. Edit: one more note - this business of bikes resetting when the key is cycled is nuts. Complete deal breaker. My KTMs all wake up exactly where we left off.

Hi Rennie, good work. BTW, I bought a new 2016 959 Panigale because of your review at that time. Paired it with a Monster 1200R which I still have. For a multitude of reasons, I traded the Pani for a Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak. Love the grunt of that big V-twin starting a 3,000 RPM. On that note, I still believe having a V4 in the Multistrada was a mistake. Moreover, the MTS V4 has gotten big , tall and heavy. The V4 engine is best served in a Panigale and the Streefighter But that's just me. What do I know?

This was great. It’s the only review I’ve seen with such a detailed look at the development from the lead engineer’s perspective, as well as going into more detail regarding the Ducati Data Analyzer. Ducati discussed the multiple (70) input mechanisms, the rear brake system, and the MotoGP basis, but this really brought it home. Great work!

where i am from, this motorbike for some reason cost the same as msrp, 5,800 (at least that is what the website of the dealer say) which is amazing w so many taxes and stuff that is here. a Motorbike usually is 2 to 4k more than msrp, depends. If i even going to get a moto, this is high on my list, i like it, many features and well cheap.

So if I were to make a gross generalization, could I say that the transalp is an on-road bike with decent off-road capability, while the tenere is an off-road bike with decent on-road capability?

Removing the signature SSSA is just another Ducati blunder. Why the "S"? which is mostly used on the street. Why not just the "R" or the base model where buyers usually change everything to go to the track.
@cyclenews4 күн бұрын
The R hasn't been revealed yet. Ducati tell me we will not see the new R for at least another year. The single-sided swingarm may be a Ducati signature, but it's just not as effective as a double-sided unit. You're asking one side to do the job of two, hence the reason they are built overly stiff. That's why none of the Japanese use them.
@DarR12993 күн бұрын
@@cyclenews I agree with you at the margin of performance. However, most of these bike will seldomly hit the track. We're all amateurs given the performance of modern superbikes. The convenience of a SSSA for servicing is unrivaled.

Literally every Superbike has been like that since 2005. These machines are all made for pro racers, just like a GT3 RS is for a pro driver and a Role Deepsea for a pro diver....if they made the bike for your ability it would be a scooter w a top speed of 70mph, and 50 hp, and 9 people worldwide would buy them.
