Yea it sucks but SxSs are way worse . Polaris for example went up like 4-5k$ on the 181hp rzr . Can am looks to have kept their atv prices respectable compared to where they were. SxS as well , the same X3 that I have only went up $600 for 23 and got an improved primary clutch. Well it's not that EVERYONE wants SXS....it's a mix of alot of people want SXS, not wanting to spend 10k or more on a quad when A decade ago a yfz was like 6k or maybe even 5. Not sure exactly there. I spent 10k on a 2020 700r, used with like 5 to 10 hours on it. Still showroom condition. But still was used, and was 10k after all said and done. Price tag was 8500 ish from dealer. People relate to SXS b.c. their similar to cars we drive everyday. It's alot of work physically to man handle sport quads. People r lazy lmao

It’s so hard to complain about the only company keeping sport atvs alive but they approaching that grey area of the conversation where you have to spend 12k out the door on the same quad you bought 5 years ago for 8k. It’s going to reach a point where 12-15k will kill these two quads in the market. Yamaha I guess will have to give lower interest rates and longer loan payments (unless you pay cash) to justify this financial endeavor. Facebook market place has plenty of 2020-2022 quads with less than 50 hours below 8k on both models. Which is good if you want one but speaks to how expensive these are and how buyers remorse sets in when not able to ride a lot.

i sure hope sport quads make a comeback and just the whole atv scene in general perks back up. its been pretty stale. this is just a guess, but as far as the japanese id say honda would be the most likely to come back with one. kawasaki never had much interest in atvs in general as they had the most spartan lineup more often than not and the only true sport atvs they ever ACTUALLY made were the mojave, tecate, kfx450r and the kfx700 (i count it). suzuki doesnt seem to have much interest in anything lately

Would you lose the reliability of the bike if you put a sport exhaust on it?
@DirtObseXXion2 жыл бұрын
That's a great question and there really isn't a straight forward answer.. On one hand you will be letting the engine breath and fire better with a Big 3, that's intake, programmer and exhaust. On the other hand you are opening the air box to potentially more foreign particals and adding components and connections to the electronics... You're also adding power which is harder on the chain, sprockets, brakes, suspension... Pretty much everything... So I'd say yes you might lose some of the reliability... But if it's done correctly it will be minimal and most guys will tell you it's worth it... Just do it right and don't add a cheap slip on...

We've done a few different Raptor builds.. Mine has long travel Elka 3s and Houser XC front arms.. With that set up I kept the stock axle.. We did another one with Lone Star Star Racing +2, +1 and Long Travel Custom Axis Suspension.. I think we did a Tusk adjustable rear axle on that one.. I like both builds, the XC style build is pretty agile and good in tighter trails.. The wide build is ridiculously stable and a little more fun on wide trails.. @jbrujones2 жыл бұрын
@@DirtObseXXion how come?
@DirtObseXXion2 жыл бұрын
@@jbrujones Well the Raptor is way more fun for one.. But 1000cc ATVs are really overkill, you never really use all the power (at least trail riding) and the weight is a lot to deal with if you're trying to ride hard. The weight also tares up suspension components, my XP needed all new bushings and bearings after a year or so and the front diff blew, steering stem stripped out, clutch seized up, and the fuel pump went out.. All that lead to my next gripe, on those big twins; everything is packed in tight so they're hard to work on.. Taking the a-arms off is labor intensive let alone taking a diff out and the stem was even worse.. Ive broke lots of stuff on the Raptor too but it's so simple and easy to work on that it's never a big deal.. I like a big single in a utility ATV like the KingQuad or Grizzly.. They have plenty of power and there's a lot more space to work if you need too... But in my experience they require much less work. Partly because Japanese reliability is better but they're also lighter which makes them easier on wearable parts..

With you guys being big Yamaha and Can Am fans I’m curious what you think of the new 2023 can am renegade base model with the 650 motor, base suspension and no power steering and how it might compare to/against the raptor 700r? Thinking about picking either up.
@toddmerriott69012 жыл бұрын
I’ll take this one guys 😂! This is a strange comparison. Raptor is way lighter, faster, better suspended, btw, way better suspension! The lower end renegades are basically a utility bike with no racks! They just look cool. I would base my decision on what and who You will be rideing with. If your buddys ride sport quads you will hate the renegade because you won’t be able to keep up with them. If they ride utility bikes then you’ll have a blast on a renegade and look cool!
@DirtObseXXion2 жыл бұрын
So, Todd's advice is pretty spot on.. Me and the Viking tested the Renegade 1000XXC last year for ATVonDeman, it was a shootout with the Outlander XTP.. 10 out of 10 times I'd go with an Outlander.. I'd prefer the Outlander XXC but the point is, the Renegade is absolutely a utility ATV without racks.. It's never going to be as fast (in trails) or as sporty as a pure sport.. It will however, be a lot more comfortable for long rides.. But they are apples to oranges as far as ATVs go.. I can certainly understand contemplating between the two especially because they're reasonably close in price... Last thing I'll say about them is this, if you watch GNCC there's a reason why Pro 4x4 guys run in the morning class.. Sport quads with the right rider are much much faster than 4x4s.. 🤘

@@DirtObseXXion what's your top 5 best sport atv/sport utility for all around performance and comfort?
@DirtObseXXion2 жыл бұрын
@@GERONIMO326 The Raptor is definitely the most comfortable. It's got the tallest seat height to footpeg ration so it's pretty easy on the knees and it's definitely got the cushiest seat of any sport ATV. It's also very easy to ride because the motor is torquey and forgiving so it's the hardest one to stall. We really like the z400 too, it has a lot characteristics similar to the Raptor but it's peppier than the Honda 400X. It's a very good trail machine. The KFX400 is basically the same. The 400EX or X is also good, I just like the Z400 better. After that you get into either some outliers that are hard to find like Honda's 700XX (I don't like IRS but it is somfortable) or Polaris's Outlaw (I'd only consider the one with the KTM 525 motor) that machine is fun but the ergonomics are very comfortable. Then there's the 450s.. The TRX450r is plentiful but I wouldn;t call any 450 comfortable, they're performace oriented and set up for aggressive riding. The LTR450 is my personal out of the box favorite but it will wear you out.. Same with the yfz450. The KFX 450 is the easiest to ride and has reverse which is nice for a trail rig, but it's still set up pretty aggressive. a DS650 is very comfortable but nearly impossible to find in good shape and there's virtually no aftermarket support for them at this point. I hop that helps. We have reviews on most of these machines, the z400 is next on our list to review.

@@ric2267 but would weigh 500lbs.. And where would you ride it, the freeway? Just add the big 3 to the Raptor and you uncork a good 8+hp with the right set up and tune.. That makes it blistering fast for trails.. Swap sprockets and you could probably get a solid 80mph on a street.. But at that point you might just as well get an R1..

@@DirtObseXXion You're right. The kfx 700 weighed over 500 with a b twin.
@DirtObseXXion2 жыл бұрын
@@ric2267 I really want to grab a nice kfx700 for a review... I know a lot of guys in Europe build Raptors for the road.. I saw one with a ktm 1290 motor in it which is just insane.. Kinda makes me wonder if maybe there is something to that, but the CP2 motor in the T7, R7, XSR700, and Mt-07 would be the more logical choice as opposed to a Vtwin.. It's a parallel twin with a 270 degree crankshaft which makes it super smooth.. FB has a T7 and I have a buddies R7 in my garage right now.. It's a great engine

It wouldn't be that hard for Honda to get back into it. I'm a Yamaha guy, but Joel Herrick running the hybrid was killing it and that bike was pretty outdated. My understanding was the money was in developing CRF, not the TRX, so Yamaha ran away with it.

Stock for stock the raptor 700 IS MORE RELIABLE. The 14+ yfzs need 09r clutches or they will explode and leave you stranded. That outta the way, new YFZs with pipe, vortex, and 09r clutch it will be better as it is wider and more stable. YFZs have fast acceleration YFZs LOVE TO REV have to ride them fast or else you will stress overheat the YFZs.

Sold my banshee last year and bought newer raptor. Raptor is easier to ride overall. Stops better, more/better power, handles better. Reverse. I just can’t get past riding the raptor like a 2 stroke. 20 years of 2 stroke habits to break. I will find my way at some point.

I own both, 450r se-16 and a 700r se-17 if your gonna be doing jumps and track riding with less trail riding go for the 450r but if your gonna be trail riding more often and doing less jumps go with the 700r both have their pros and cons but i would pick the 450r because race bike 😂

clapptor... Its a good machine but to me its a workout. I cant ride it to long or I loose my stamina quickly... I get fatigue fast. My 2007 400ex I can ride it sooo much longer and I feel just fine...
@LiveFreeOrRIP2 жыл бұрын
As for the 450 its WORSE then the raptor. The motor is so high strung that its almost impossible to ride slow technical stuff without constantly pulling in the clutch and gas and clutch gas and clutch.. The 450 is a fast machine for sure. But as for a trail machine unless you are walker fowler forget it.. You need to have some major strength and entrance to keep that thing going for an hour at a time in rough trails.... This is MY experience from owning and riding MOST sport bikes.
@DirtObseXXion2 жыл бұрын
That's true.. Racing is definitely not like trail riding though.. The Viking races IXCR so we get to Brycean Neal and Austin Abney ride a lot.. Those boys are bouncing off 9500-1000 RPMs constantly even in super gnarly stuff.. The quads just sound different with a pro rider on them.. And that's what they're for, but there's too high a cost to stay at the limit for most of us.. 100% agree, they really aren't meant to be trail riders..
@erre69142 жыл бұрын
Forgot to add on the YFZs the faster you go through rough stuff the better the suspension comes to life. On the YFZs people say suspension is stiff outta the box. If you turn down the HIGH SPEED compression to half turn softer on all three shocks it will ride more smooth if not planning on jumping it. BE SAFE PEOPLE. Keep rubber side down. If you lower the HIGH SPEED COMPRESSION ON THE SHOCKS also soften the rebound softer one click or two to help the shocks “recover”.
