2023 Yamaha xmax 300 -The Prep For Painting Part 2.

Things didn't go too good on the re-paint side for the 2023 Yamaha Xmax 300. so I have decided to go further and start removing more panels off the scoot
Very hard task to do on the bike so this may be the best alternative to do the work.

yeah its a poor looking scooter i must admit...lol will be interesting to see how all this pans out. still a bit more rubbing to do...then i will start on the plastics....lol

Well, well , well, I'm glad you have actual come to your senses and do the job correctly. Now if you want a good paint job, go to an automotive body shop and have them do the painting. It will cost you some money, but it won't look like crap when you are done. 😊

maybe i never mentioned in the clip. i have actually done full bare metal paint jobs on several cars. mustangs/bmw/merc's many sports cars...lol this paint job is a picnic! now if i get on here and say...did a great job on this...one has to listen to negative comments or worse...lol believe me one doesnt pay $10k for a new scooter and do a re-paint not up to scratch kzbin.info/www/bejne/hoG1cmyFpdqJqNE

yeah i think it will look alright and brokem by the black. only 25 panels to prepare and paint so will keep me a bit busy or so i think...lol that big rougher panel in the clip. finally after a good hour got it to split so i can now do a good job or better than what i had on it. providing weather is good painting is the easy part getting all the stuff off and prepared and back together without scratching it is the main issue

yeah i think so too. i was thinking red but in the end decided on a more easy on the eyes colour...lol bike now stripped of all plastics and i think i have between 20 and 25 pieces to paint. then the hard part putting it back together with all the clips/screws press type studs etc...quite a few really.

That's the problem with any kind of bike with fairings. Give me the simplicity of an Enfield or the like any day.😊

Your scooter looks like my my chicken did after I’d carved up for our dinner. Love the yellow on the car, it reminds me of a mini I had, the colour of it was called Inca yellow. Good luck.

Nice blue colour I noticed with the new Forza you can only choose a dark silvery grey , then you have to wait until it arrives from the dealer. The car is nice too

the forza appears a tad larger too with far more boby or so it felt to me. xmax appeared more compact of the two. forza had the better more powerful motor and good pickup but ive purchased better or more performace rollers for this unit so that should help it there.

I think the result will look very good u are doing a great job, much better than i could. Excited to see the finished. Thanks for sharing it with us. There are many boring colors nowadays especially for some brands like Honda, i bought a 2023 nc 750x dct and all colors were boring, i chose grey but would have liked a metallic blue/yellow or white with bronze wheels or something..

G'day Warro, that's a lot of work hope your happy with the Finnish when all panels are repaint, how many panels in total are you doing? I love the colour you choose, red would look good as well, cheers mate, Neil 🤠.

i think roughly 25 pieces in total. actually a bit scary undoing the plastic to get to the part which needs the colour. masking up was pretty rough regardless and the only way to do this is split the parts prior to doing the job. thought about red too. hard choice and toss of the coin. plus i have that orange vstom 250 arriving shortly so this mixes the colours more. how did the bike show and your marshalling go. all good no issues and a drama free day i hope!

@@ridewithwarro g'day Warro the two days ride was a bit wet on Saturday afternoon but all had a great time only 3 breakdowns and one fell rider good bike not so good,240 bikes total, today Sunday shorter ride with no problems and no one lost on both days weather much better, next weekend it's the all British rally and last year their were 1200 old and new bike so l hope the weather holds, cheers mate, Neil.

You've been having fun there, mate! I think it's going to end up looking really nice. I agree with you about the MGF... The K-series engine wasn't a good one; the 1.6 only had 82 kW and though the later 1.8VVC managed 117 kW, it was still not all that great.

yeah im doing a suspenion change at the moment. pulled out the fluid jobs and ready to fit the coil overs. no wonder when the mx5 hit the road it virtually wiped out most sports cars. i was right into bmw z3 about 6 or 8 years back. had the 1.9/2.0/2.8/3.0 -they were alright but again not much fun to drive but looked good. your right too the vvc was the more interesting. in the mgf almost bought a trophy once but tossed the coin and bought a mx5 turbo -far better choice and more reliable too

@@ridewithwarro Good move on the suspension. The MX5 was modelled on the Lotus Elan, but a lot more reliable and the turbo had real go. I've punted Z3's around Sandown a few times - I was a CAMS evaluator for 13 years; the 1.9 didn't have enough power to get itself into trouble and the 2.8 had traction controls that were far too intrusive. A gentleman's cruiser, really.

@@chrisweeks6973 yeah cars are ok and i did spend a lot of time polishing them...lol but for the $$$ the enfield 350 reborn is hard to beat and the xmax scooter has a purpose too. overall i am enjoying my time with bikes again compared to the 4 wheelers. tell ya what. it was quite an effort to pull out those 4 suspension spheres in that mgf...lol

@@ridewithwarro Same here; 36 years in motor-racing... Can't say that I envy you getting those spheres off!... I really like the look of your 350 (excellent value) and I'd like one or maybe the new Enfield 350 Hunter, but for now I'll settle for my old Suzuki VL250. It's not at all fast, but at 77 I'm largely past that stuff.

@@chrisweeks6973 coin tossed there on the 350 choice...very hard call. just a matter of personal taste. have you thought maybe toss the dice and grab one-ride it for a few months and either keep or sell. best of all you get to experience the ride and i guarantee the 350 is a very nice bike to ride compared to many others ive had new which weren't worth a cracker....lol

spray can acrylic and clear. when i painted my last car i'd had enough of doing full re-sprays and i wheeled the compressor out the front of the house with gun and hose and said ...thats it for me.....lol i'm done! was only there for maybe 10 minutes too and gone. lol could have sold it but not that desperate for a $$$

yeah plus it doesnt matter what position. i found buying a cheap $35 wind deflector from ebay works pretty good as i have it now on my screen. maybe not the best looking but works pretty good. thats about all i can tell you unless you score something from thailand

Wow 👏 That looks great! Going to look better than oem. You just increased the Xmax value by no less than $1,000. And on a side note, that there yellow sports car is the coolest looking piece o' 💩 I ever seen 😮.

yeah back in '73 i once wore a galah at 110 kph out back of broken hill. pretty good too totally winded me and i pulled over and curled up....lol had that feathery imprint right in the centre of that brent leather jacket. not good for the galah either was on a suzuki 750 gt watercool i'd just bought new. those were the days $1450 ride away no more to pay. still remember pulling in to get petrol and often had older guys come over to check out that chrome radiator up front. now its the norm....lol although i think in those days they were proper bikes not like now .....mobile plastic...lol

@@ridewithwarro The galahs really are bloody stupid. Back in the mid-70's I had one fly in through the open driver's window on the Newell, between Moree and Goondiwindi, whilst I was sitting on something over 110 klicks. Caused some consternation!
