Pro tip one - save silicone by making 45 degree angles in the corners of your mould. You'll save a ton of resin Pro tip two - if you know your silicone will bond to another layer of the same silicone, pour in levels and let each level cure ... and add drinking glasses where negative space forms (like above the body of your rabbit) ... this further saves silicone and makes demoulding WAY easier because your mould is more flexi. Pro tip three - Always cut along the longest portion where there are "undercuts" - like under your rabbit head Pro tip four - don't make neat cuts, jagged cuts help you realign your mould when you close it up

I think the various textures inside the rabbit made it extra special, red flakes, gold flakes, bubbles and all. China is a large and complex country after all. The stirring of the golden pigments into the silicone were pure gold, pun intended! 🤩 I was born in the year of the rat and according to the all-knowing source of everything true (aka the internet) I'm a very typical rat! 😏

Claire, I'm so sorry for your and your family's loss, it's so hard to lose a family member 😢, even at my 62 years of age, after having lost everyone except my nieces, nephew, children and grandchildren, every friend I've ever had over the years. May fond memories comfort you all, and may you all see sunshine in every life you encounter. Many hugs from Wyoming. Your mold and rabbit turned out beautifully. Might I suggest, that to get a proper red, use a semi-transparent white metallic or pearl mica powder with a bright red or deep red resin dye? I haven't tried it myself yet because I'm in the process of moving from a 5 bedroom home into a 33 foot camping trailer, so all of my time has been taken up by deciding what will fit, what to throw out, what to sell, and what to give away 😟 not an easy task 😢

Year of the Goat for me (some say Sheep). A hint would be when cutting into your silicone moulds, use a zig zag pattern to make the cut as it will seal and fit much better than a straight line. Cute bunny 😍. You can use PVA mould release on your rabbit. It's used in carbon fiber and fiberglass manufacturing, and is for this exact use. You can get it in brush on or spray form. It might be tricky getting it on the inside of the mould before a new pour tho but certainly less tricky than no release.

Hi Claire, I'm a Pig, not very glamorous! I had the same issue with a much smaller pokemon mould because of the ears. I ended up throwing out 2 ruined moulds as just couldn't get the head out. The ears were longer than the rest of the head which is what I think caused the problems. I gave up in the end. I think I'll check out resin ace as I do need the mould for a commission piece 🙄

sending hugs :) I made a mould of one of my custom horses it took 10 litres of silicone XD I had to cut mine in half to get the castings out but it goes back together easily and I have elastic bands and tape to hold it together :) I have been saving my QS wrappers to as they are going to move to paper soon so cant put that in resin :(.
