The 300's def lug more. But the YZ still lugs good. The fact that its compared always against the 300's says alot about this bike. Its simplicity is what I think is its best feature. I have heard the vibration difference mentioned from friends of mine. So there is an apparent difference there. As far as clutch pull if your used to cable clutch, this one in my opinion is a pretty easy pull due to the lighter springs. Not as effortless as hydraulic. But i dont think its that bad at all really. Short story, i dropped mine in a creek crossing. Completely submerged. Put front end in air let water spill out the tailpipe put new plug in. After about 10 min of kicking it atarted up and i rode it home like 40 min or so away. Not sure the other bikes could do that.

I had a 2022 (with the GYTR heavy flywheel) and it was the best bike I ever owned... sold it because it just begged to be shredded, and I could not control myself to deny it, so my riding became increasingly more dangerous.. FYI: the 2006 is not the same as the 22-23. they redesigned the head, reeds and a few other elements in the engine and carb. It's not a factory level redo, but it was somewhat significant. I ran Amsoil and always 1/2 clutched the engine. Never had any issues with metal in the oil and the clutch stayed heathy for a long time. Also ran the long lever, never had that heavy clutch issue, but never tried a hydraulic one either.

I used to own an older model of the YZ250, but now I've upgraded to the new model of the Yamaha WR450F. However, I must admit that I sometimes find myself missing my old bike. Even though it was originally designed for motocross and I mostly ride it for enduro purposes, it was an incredibly enjoyable bike to ride. It had a lightweight and nimble feel to it, along with impressive power and reliability.

The magura kit for our bikes is what I purchased. One of my favorite additions. Took some re learning but now I can go off the extension of my fingers rather than the "feel". Regardless the arm pump was so terrible before that my clutch became obsolete. +1 for hydraulic clutch lever

I own both 250x and a 23 300xc and took both bikes to wellsville Ohio and I prefer the yz250x over the the ktm. Even the clutch I prefer because the feel is more positive over the sometimes jerky hydraulic clutch. An RKtek head with a lectron carb made the yz noticeably stronger and smoother throughout the rev range. The only thing I prefer on the KTM is the 6 speed semiclose trans. The WR trans in the yz250x makes for a big jump from 3rd to 4th which can be somewhat fixed by putting the yz mx 3rd gear in it.

So nice to hear somebody truly praising a great bike rather than dogging on it and putting it down saying oh it's an outdated dinosaur they need to change it they could put a hydraulic clutch on it and electric start would be nice but then it would cost a lot more money it's a hell of a good price for a hell of a good bike They could change the leverage ratio on the clutch to make it an easier pull for sure though I have troubles with that myself especially with carpal tunnel Anyway thanks for making a great video I appreciate it enjoyed watching it

I had a 2007 KX250 and a 2018 YZ250 two strokes and I ride at my local motocross track and the best thing I ever did to them was add a 12oz flywheel weight. So many people think they sap power but they dont.. power doesnt just disappear into thin air. They took the edge off the violent natures of the bikes and smoothened them out a little. I got more traction and the bike was less likely to get squirrely on me when I grabbed too much throttle. Its my opinion that most weekend warrior types would benefit from them.

@@dv8214 Hi sorry for the late reply, was out on medical recovery. I love my SmartCarb, great investment! Installation is pretty straight forward, just be sure to pay attention to the air passages on the SmartCarb. They're larger than stock and you'll have to trim your airbox boot. The carb will come with instructions on how to do that and there's videos on KZbin. I used a Dremel and it worked out great. Power was consistent. It's not EFI but pretty darn close. No matter how many times I'd chop the throttle the bike would never bog down. Fuel consumption was about the same on my regular carb. I ride wide open desert so I'm heavy on the throttle, but me personally I wasn't concerned with MPG, I wanted to have consistent throttle delivery and that's exactly what I got.

I have had many yzs and a 17 250x and yes it lugs incredibly low, 3rd to 4th gear gap is a bit much for deep loam, Suspension can be valved to magic status, I prefer the pull of the cable clutch vs hydraulic, yz has a very short (hard pull) section where you use it to modulate the engine, ktm is hard pull all the way to half (where it slips). YZ is better trail mileage than tpi or TBI. Bew Husky te 250 is only $1,588 more in my area right now, Lights, e start, no engine vibration, resale. I still like a 250x, rode mine every weekend for five years but Yamaha does not care to make a true off road bike.

Since 5hen I’ve owned Yamaha FJR 1300 AE, Africa Twin 1000 DCT, VFR 1200X DCT, 2018 Goldenwing DCT, non tour, and VFR 1200F DCT. All great bikes. I love going fast, and I’ve gotten the bug to get me a dirt bike once again. I’m looking at a 2024 YZ 250X with Recluse auto clutch, but I’m only 5’6” short. Do you think I can handle this tall bike? Not looking to do anything quite crazy on it. Thanks and ride safe! Subscribed.

I have a friend that is telling me to buy a YZ250 for woods, trail and enduro riding because it has a better motor and transmission setup than the YZ250X. What is your recommendation or suggestion being an owner of both models? Thanks.
@THMXCO9 ай бұрын
The YZ250X is much more suited for a woods bike purely from a suspension perspective. You won't be dissappointed, it really is the tool for the job.
@scottardito7790Ай бұрын
If youre a fast and aggressive rider, id agree with your friend. Get a regular YZ and add flywheel weight. The X is a good woods bike but lacks the torque and pull that the regular YZ has which is nice to have coming out of corners and short run ups to hills. You have to clutch the X a lot to get to the power

Pol Tarres says he runs an "old trials secret clutch mod" on his 250x, but leaves it a mystery. I put a Magura Hymec on mine, the lack of "feel" is only because now I can feel my hands.

Is that the irc vx30 front, If so how do you like it? I like mx33 and mx34 wondering if I should switch for more affordable and hoping better in wet rock and root, logs. Regarding clutch, buddy at a race had a cable pull reducer by moose goes inline with the clutch cable was lighter than my te300i clutch pull on his rm250.

Ive been riding Jap bikes all my life. Ive owned Yamaha, Honda and Suzuki two strokes and the Yamaha is definitely the best Jap bike two stroke i have owned. However i bought the new 2023 Husqvarna TX300. In my opinion this bike is far superior than any Jap two stroke i have ever owned and This motorcycle stock has 55 hp, the Yamaha 250 doesn’t come close to producing this horsepower. The only thing Yamaha has over the 2023 Austrian two stroke models is the KYB suspension which is the best suspension made stock. The 2023 TX comes with air forks which are inferior to the KYB cartridge forks. How ever the 2024 Austrian models all come with cartridge forks except the moto models. TBI technology is the only way to go as the air fuel mixture is always perfect no matter if you start at sea level riding up to 8000 feet elevation which i do quite often where i ride. If Yamaha puts in an electric start on their YZ 250X and keeps the weight down, they may have a bike that can compete in Hard Enduro competition. This is strictly my opinion from a guy who is 61 years old and has owned Jap bikes all his life until now. Hope this gives a different perspective.

Mate i honestly think u may have got the ONLY YZ250 with a heavy clutch pull 😳 one of the current rides i have is a 2019 YZ250X (VHM head, V-force reedblock, flywheel weight, full GYTR exhaust off the MXer) and it has the lightest clutch ive ever ridden with (i have hydraulic clutch equipped bikes) and my mates all ride Euros and its lighter then theirs, plus the engagement point/feel is better 👍

Everybody runs their handle bars high, and I have never seen so many slow riders in the corners (go-pro vids). Lower them so the ends of the grips are pointing down (not doing freestyle or SX rhythms), set the rear sag at 100mm (instead of 105 plus), and get better front end control in the corners with less 'twitchy" steering feel. Or you can make noises like a sheep stepping on egg shells around the corners. :)

@leanlifter1 Жыл бұрын
@@brendans74892 strokes are great because they make lots of hp and are the easiest to rebuild and maintain. Nothing like big thumper 4 stroke TQ to back up the HP though but it will cost more time and money on maintenance and a top end rebuild when after years of hard riding when the 4 stroke need work. The 2 stroke take 30mins and two wrenches to rebuild top end vs 4 stroke which takes allot more finicky work, specialized and exspensive tools and time to get put together properly.

I 100% agree, coming from a yz250 to a ktm 300 xc it’s night and day difference. If you think you can lug a 250x, try a ktm/husky 300, they lug down LOW. Plus electric start is awesome when your on the side of a mountain. Yz250x is still an awesome bike, Yamaha just needs to really upgrade it
