2024-09-15 Chitina, Alaska

We took a detour to Chitina and did not go to McCathy as the road conditions did not seem encouraging. Chitina is a very small town in Alaska and very very quiet. We did enjoyed the solitude and also the hiking at Liberty Falls, Copper River, and the walk through the town.

Y'all are the only KZbinrs I've seen explore Chitna. There isn't much to see but it's still cool. Lots of history. You should get the book / audiobook called Cold Mountain Path by local author Tom Kizzia? It's about the history.

I would say it was one of the high points of our trip - the quiet town and the hike with the views. Thanks for the reference to the book. I'm going to look into it.

@@dgrahammartin I like how you enjoy slow travels and exploring the areas instead speeding thru like 99% of vanlife/RV channels in Alaska. There is so much to see an explore. I really like the Milepost book for telling things to see or the history of areas on the highways in Alaska and northern Canada. I live here and use mine on road trips several times a year.
