2024 1st Korea Peace Day (Border Peace School)

Citizens for peace,
There is only one path to peace, and it is not the path of force. Peace can
be achieved only by peaceful means. Each of us must "be peace" first. In
each heart, in all of our hearts, peace must come alive. The peace in our
hearts must call out for peace in all nations, times, and civilizations.
Korean Peoples’ Appeal
We, the participants in Korea Peace Day, appeal to the South and to the
North:
Immediately stop military exercises and missile tests that increase the
risk of war.
Resume dialogue. - 2
Turn the armistice into an end-of-war agreement, and elevate the
end-of-war agreement into a peace treaty.
Do not rely on foreign power, whether that be the United States, Japan,
China or Russia, but realize peace and unification independently through
dialogue and agreement by South and North.
Humankind in Harmony with Nature
Looking outward, there are other serious problems. The whole world is now
in a "new war" such as we have never experienced. A climate catastrophe
cannot be solved by military force. A "sixth mass extinction" is not
something that can be prevented by economic power. Humanity is now in the
midst of a long-term emergency - fossil fuel depletion, water scarcity,
ecosystem collapse, polarization and inequality - and perhaps this war,
represented by the climate crisis, is worse than war by military force,
because no human being or nation is free from its effects.
The ultimate goal of peace is for human beings to live like human
beings. If "small peace" is the absence of war, "great peace" is when
humankind restores global sensitivity and lives in harmony with nature,
heaven and earth.
Today, Cheorwon is not just a part of Korea; it's the center of our Earth.
The goal of Korea Peace Day is great, sustainable peace, going beyond
"small peace" on the Korean peninsula. As citizens of Earth as well as of
South Korea, we seek a better future for humanity and the planet.
Let us "be peace" first, and make this the first year of peace in Korea.
Let us designate Cheorwon as a holy place of peace.
Let us be leaders for peace, speaking to the nation, society and the world,
and acting for peace.
Peace is the only way to a bright future for all of us.
