BMW didn't think it through did they? They wanted to get the same love and sales figures as the E class. So they made the 5 series longer and softer. But the 5 series has always been a driver's car, not a chauffeur driven car. And did they do that properly? No. There is no reclining function, boss seat function and sun blinds. Now they have ended up with a car that looks bad and is neither an enthusiast's car nor a chauffeur driven car.

These look like India spec wheels and tires. Good big sidewall to soak up the bumps and avoids wheel damage. Online forums are filled with BMW owners complaints about frequent wheel and tyre replacement costs.

The higher sidewalls will surely make it more comfortable and less prone to tyre replacements. But we can only give you more updates once we do a full road test.

Looks aside, BMW almost did near perfect this time by offering a longest wheel base in the segment. But they missed out on a few essentials for the rear seats such as window blinds and recliner seats. I believe Merc would capitalise on that aspect.

@@evoIndia Most certainly, Yes. The intent of LWB is to provide optimum comfort to the rear seat passenger. Most LWB cars sold would be chauffeur driven. These things do matter when one spends nearly a crore on a sadan with the sole purpose of getting driven.

half hearted attempt by bmw , rather than this idiotic Long wheelbase version which does not even get a basic windows blinds and rear seat recline angle adjustment , they should have instead launched the regular version and I can say that Mercedes have already has a winner in their hands with the E class since it will hold more true to the long wheelbase nomenclature

Here everyone is talking about small wheels, well as g30 530d owner with low profile tyres i have changed atleast 4 rims in 6 years of ownership due to rim being easily bent over potholes.The new 5 with bigger profile rubber would be prone to less alloy damage.

The reason why 5 series is an ubiquitous sports sedan is cuz of looks with that long tail and flat bonnet. Like what the fuk is this design seriously?? Ok fine put a new car in the market like a replacement for the 6GT or something but they replace the 5 series that we all love with this awkward looking LWB. It’s called LWB but then u can’t recline the back seat nor you have window shades for rear windows in India…my god….the new E class is leagues above this stupid vehicle
