As someone who's often on the Autobahn I do wonder how the hell people use the power in the UK? Roads narrow with a lot of imperfections, speed limit highway 70mph.. Performance is an importance for a car like an M4. But just because it does outstanding in that discipline, that doesn't even make it a consideration for an Aston Martin alternative. The more cars you drive on long distances, specifically at night, the more you start to appreciate everything else instead of sheer acceleration from a dig. Cool car. The bmw fan community, as always, ruins it. From a perspective of a former BMW owner, of the first two 3 series models.

I had the F83 M4 Comp Convertible for 4 years from new, the one with the hard top. Personally, and it is all down to preference, but in my opinion the hard top is superior in every regard. Screw the weight of it, who cares, less than 1% of the people buying these are using it for track days and if they do... who do they think they are to whinge about some extra weight? You're not competing for a F1 seat, nobody cares, just tool your car around and pray you don't bin it. But soft tops don't age well, British weather causes them to unavoidably mould up around the seams which no amount of Halfords super snake oil is gonna stop... they crease and wrinkle over time making them ugly, so I'd take a hard top all day long. The only real life issue with a hard top is they can be prone to rattling depending if your unlucky or not. But again, imo, the M4 has become unreasonably priced. I've got a brand new G87 M2 coming this week and that's more expensive than a brand new M4 was in 2017/2018, the M4 is an amazing car but it isn't a £90k+ car, that's absolute madness. Edit - WTF that rear light cluster is a £2800 optional extra as part of the technology pack, jesus christ man the spec of the car in this video is well over £100,000. That is just insanity, for what is essentially a 4 series.

I own 2019 m340i which is two refreshes behind but still the same engine as the reviewed m440i. I'm not complaining as there's only slight tweaks here and I can make comparable power with a few simple mods - for example a downpipe and a chip tune.
@Neil3DАй бұрын
@@gw7624 I wrote out a huge comment but it's a KZbin comment, nobody cares or would read it. So I'll shorten it. In summary, I didn't say LCI was a new thing though did I? What I am saying is that generally, people buy a car from new because they want the latest & greatest, and they pay a premium to have that. I expect that feeling to last longer than 1 year in some cases. LCI induced FOMO is getting worse, the G series received a completely overhauled dash and UI in 2022 (the widescreen). If you bought a £90k+ M4 in 2021 thinking you were the dogs nuts, 1 year in you've got the dated dashboard. Some don't care, many do. The G87 M2 has had a LCI after only 1 year. It doesn't matter how minor the changes are either, if you bought a brand new G series M2 when it launched and barely months later you now own the "old one", you're gonna be p*ssed. Go look at the F8X ZCP era, from 2016-2020, the LCI for that was pretty much to make the adaptive lights standard, and not a whole lot else. It certainly didn't get an entire new dashboard mid-cycle, new paints, new wheels, more power etc So no, I would strongly disagree that the nature of the G series LCI has been predictable.
