Congratulations mate!! Phenomenal performance and well worth all that hard training. The 'I'm in bits' comment towards the end was classic. Brilliant effort and a real source of inspiration to anyone like myself who had to drop out of a spring marathon due to injury. (back running again and marathon planned for October)

Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. It makes me really happy to inspire people to get out there and run. I have to say, receiving messages like this really motivates me as well, so thanks very much. I hope you recover well and get back to yourself for the October marathon. Good luck!

Great effort brilliant result. I finalised about 20 minutes behind you, was originally going for a sub 3.15 but spent most of the winter injured which limited my training. That wind made it tough but it was incredible experience. The level of support from the crowds was the best I’ve ever experienced.
@inmruns5 ай бұрын
Sounds like you had a good marathon in the end considering the issues you had. The wind was strong in places, which certainly didn’t help, and the support was amazing. I think the new layout helps the spectators. It’s a shame they can’t do away with some of those hills!

Awesome time Ian, had no idea Brighton marathon was quite so hilly, pretty much same elevation as the only marathon i have done so far.I would need to run every km at more than a minute quicker to get close to you, i just cant even get my head round that idea! 12th in age cat in such a huge event is incredible too. You must be well chuffed but ofcourse your hardwork and dedication fully deserve it!

Thank you, yeah, it's a shame really. They can't do much about some of the hills, like the start and along the seafront, but there is a small but quite steep one at the back of the town. Shame they can't get rid of that one. I am really pleased; thanks, glad I incorporated some hills into my long runs. It certainly paid off.

Well done Ian! Good seeing you on the seafront. Hopefully see you at Greenwich parkrun again once the mud dries up!

Congrats on your first marathon and a great time! Yes, the last 10k is always the hardest. I really liked the new finish though; it's a lot better than when I did it last time.

Excellent effort, mate, to watch your journey from start to finish has been fantastic. Let's not forget you were injured at the start of your training. it's unbelievable how you ended up running such a great time. What's your next race ? All the best mate, thanks for inspiring.

Thanks, mate. That’s great to hear that you’re feeling motivated. Sometimes the hardest part, especially when things are not going right, is to keep going. I am glad I did, now! Yes, I have something coming up very soon. Update weekend.

Love Brighton (it's where I live directly opposite the start) didn't do it this year, did the LLHM instead as preview and good warm-up for my first London marathon in a few weeks. Great video as always.

Awesome. Right on the money for your 3:05 to 3:10 target. What a transformation from early January when you were struggling so much. Excellent in race footage that you managed to organise too. We have now entered Brighton for 2025. The organisation and vibe looked similar to Chester. Big enough to know you were in a well-organised event without the logisitcal hassles of a major undertaking.
@inmruns5 ай бұрын
Yes, definitely. Hard work paid off, to be fair. I really enjoyed the training block. Believing in the process paid off in the end. You won't regret Brighton; it's a great event with a really good atmosphere!! The date is in my diary. I might pop down and watch with the camera 😉

Thanks, Chris! I couldn't really focus my eyes on the watch to see for the last 5k, and it doesn't show the total time if it's over each hour. I really need to work out how to change it and the font size.
