Well done for completing a marathon, Robbie, especially under those circumstances. It is probably only after you've had such an experience that we learn to start listenjng to ouf bodies more. I hope your recovery is going well. I was slso in Rome over the weekend, the was a far smaller event on Monday starting in the Vatican, the evening flight had several people on it moving rather stiffly. Keep up the good work.

Congrats on finishing the race! My wife and I always flew 14 hours from the states and did not have a great day either. Unfortunately it looks like we got very unlucky with the weather.. was expecting 4-6c but we got 21c -- it was just too hot to do anything out there. As you mentioned in the video, the race felt like they accepted way more runners than they should have. It should have been capped and registration closed, but it was way too many people. The start area with all the large trucks made no sense, and they needed to at least double the amount of bathrooms in the starting line. The bathrooms at some of the aid station only had 1 toilet as well. We had planned to follow a pacer, but with the congestion in the start line and on the course, it was too difficult to even get to them. Overall it was still a fun experience, but not a race we'll be coming back to.

I done this last Sunday too. This marathon made me very emotional too. I think a combination of a lack of space at the beginning, the course measuring about 2km long on my garmin, the heat and the same congestion and lack of shade and loud music at the finish area. This one had me crying in a number of occasions. However it was a day I will not forget!

This was me too at the Rome marathon last Sunday. I felt so unwell. I was shivering and wretching and really struggled. Heat exhaustion is awful. Thank you so much for sharing your video. A very honest account. It was my 3rd time doing Rome and a very different experience to the previous times (one in torrential rain). The start was chaos. Hopefully they'll sort it out for next year. Huge congratulations for finishing when you were feeling so rough x

Has the marathon grown a lot recently? Was the start like that in previous years?
@samanthakedwards4118
@samanthakedwards4118 3 ай бұрын
It has grown a lot but I think other problems contributed to the busy start, this year. As you know they had the Italian Prime Minister there, so roads were closed early and we all had to be in the start area early. I also heard that last minute road works caused problems for the organisers. The previous times I have done it the start was very relaxed and we sauntered along to the bag drop and start area. My favourite start was at the Colosseum (where it also ended). This year didn't compare sadly. Hopefully the 30th Rome Marathon in 2025 will be better. Possibly the relay also made a difference?
