Glad you enjoyed your time riding the Spyder, we do too every time we go out. Ok it does have its faults, but doesn’t everything! Putting these aside it is a fun ride & gets positive comments were ever we go! We have met so many people in our travels who think the same as us. And thanks for sharing your positive thoughts on the Spyder, ride safe regards Stephen Alberta Canada.

You forgot to mention. You don't have to hold the bike up at a stop or worry about dropping it, making a turn. This was a big positive for the older guys. We're parking it and then trying to back it up. And last but not least, trying to make a turn when the road has a pitch to it. All those worries are gone.

Chris , you are absolutely right I was rambling on and on. I got the fuel mileage wrong on the Can-Am and the Ducati the Ducati times will get 48 miles to the gallon and probably averages about 42 miles to the gallon and yes, I thought the Can-Am was in the neighborhood of thirtyish Yet please note I only filled it up with fuel a couple of times where you have filled it up with fuel many times sorry for the mistake. Thank you for commenting. Hopefully other viewers will read your, ride safe and in peace and again I plugged your channel in this video

Excellent review and analysis, if I can sell my Harley, I’ll contemplate getting a Spyder RT. One main concern I have is the sparse dealer network and locations for service and support.
@maraudermitchelli17 күн бұрын
That’s always a concern of mine, but for this motorcycle not so much there are just so many Can-Am ATV side-by-side dealers in our area and I think across the United States, but I could not find information on a quick search of how many dealers there are in the United States sadly enough There’s a lot of Harley Davidson dealers worldwide, and in the United States that are closing that was Harley Davidson‘s big claim of fame was a dealer network which at one time was over 1000 in the United States now I think it’s around 900. I believe Honda has over 1000 dealers in the United States. Good question. I hope you enjoy your Harley Davidson. Let me know if you pull the trigger on a Can-am spyder. Ride safe and in peace.

I have owned a number of motorcycles from Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki and I've never had a bike of any sort with a rain mode. I now own a Spyder RT Ltd and a Suzuki Burgman 650 and again neither have a rain mode. My RT is a 2012 model with a 5-speed semi -automatic transmission which I think works fine - the auto change down is good. The Suzuki has a CVT with a manual over ride that allows access to a 6th over drive gear when on the highway. When I ride the Suzuki I leave in auto mode in the city to let the bike do the changes so I have one less thing to manage when riding. I feel the 6-speed on the current Spyders coupled with the 1330 triple (as opposed to the 998 twin in the 2012 version) gives better fuel economy. Three wheels is much safer in any conditions but especially in the wet. Even allowing for the three wheels, the increased contact and "the nanny" safety suite the bike is only as good as the rider. Fuel economy is an issue in that when riding in urban environments the fuel consumption is about 8litres/100km where as on the open road it is about 6.1litres/100km when using cruise control set at 100km/h (I live in Australia where the national speed limit is 110km/h). Clearly the RT is best suited for touring rather than commuting - I use 95RON or 98RON (rated octane number). The Spyder is not learner approved in Australia you would have to ride a Ryker (the 600 version) if you were looking for a trike to ride as a beginner.

I prefer Semi-Automatic over fully automatic.
@gregfaucher63382 ай бұрын
I like the semi as well especially since the downshift values are so low. I frequently downshift manually. The Rykers are CVT I believe. That might be the way to go instead of an automatic.

These 3 wheelers can be but are not necessarily an alternative to motorcycles. Same way quad bikes offer a complete different riding experience, so do the can am's. Many of the younger generation have discovered these trikes and are having loads of fun with them, plus they can be customised with so many aftermarket accessories. If you do ride a bike but your partner won't go near one ,they might at least sit on one of these!!
